  • Patent number: 10137464
Abstract: The invention provides a hydrocarbon-fueled device for heating and dispensing a volatile substance, such as an insect repellent. The device provides a long-lasting 48-hour fuel system, multiple fuel canisters that can be exchanged without interrupting the operation of the device, an illuminated indicator that provides a visible indication of the operating state of the device from any viewing angle, and a flame-extinguishing safety lid. During the warm-up phase, the indicator indicates this state by pulsing. Once the device reaches operating temperature, the indicator emits a steady light, indicating proper operation. In the event that the device cools below the operating temperature, the light will pulse, alerting the user to check the flame and/or fuel supply. The user can initiate complete, properly-controlled operation of all functions of the device via the operation of a single on-off switch.

  • Patent number: 10137466
Abstract: A discharge head for a dispenser including a securing element coupling the discharge head to the dispenser, a housing having an outlet opening, and a valve body. The valve body closes the outlet opening when the pressure of a medium in the discharge head is below a threshold value, and in a ready-for-use state the valve body releases the outlet opening when the pressure of the medium in the discharge head is above the threshold value. The valve body is mounted over a travel path for releasing and closing the outlet opening, and a locking handle moves in relation to the securing element in order to transfer the discharge head into a locked state in which the travel path of the valve body is reduced to zero, and/or in order to transfer the discharge head from the locked state into the ready-for-use state.

  • Patent number: 10137489
Abstract: A rotary stamper includes an upper die plate assembly, a lower die plate assembly, and a support frame having a drive assembly that moves the upper die plate horizontally and vertically along a generally circular pathway while moving the lower die plate along a linear horizontal pathway. The upper die plate is vertically slidably connected to the lower die plate by way of one or more vertical rods that extend from the lower die plate assembly up through the upper die plate. In operation, the lower die plate matches the horizontal movements of the upper die plate as the latter is moved along its circular pathway. • Patent number: 10137498
Abstract: A high-pressure die casting apparatus including a shot sleeve extending through a first die half to a molding surface, and a plunger received in the shot sleeve is provided. The shot sleeve includes a side wall presenting a fluid passageway and a partial end wall disposed in a fixed position relative to the side wall. The partial end wall defines a wall opening adjacent the molding surface. Fluid is poured into the shot sleeve while the die apparatus is open, and the partial end wall prevents the fluid from flowing out of the shot sleeve. The plunger then presses the material into the mold cavity until only a portion of the material remains in the shot sleeve and blocks the wall opening. After the solidified material is ejected from the apparatus, the portion of material blocking the wall opening prevents lubricant from entering the shot sleeve.

  • Patent number: 10137500
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a component using electron beam melting includes providing a powder layer; selectively melting at least a part of the powder layer so as to generate a solid layer of the component using a first electron beam; identifying any defects in the solid layer by scanning the solid layer using a second electron beam; and then repeating these steps at least once so as to build up a shape corresponding to the component. The second electron beam has a lower power than the first electron beam. The method may also include steps of removing any identified defects in the solid layer by using the first electron beam to re-melt at least a part of the solid layer, and adjusting one or more parameters of the selective melting step so as to avoid future recurring defects based on stored data relating to the scanned solid layer.

Abstract: Provided is a method for manufacturing a micropore filter usable as SCE. Stainless steel particles having particle diameters of 3 to 60 ?m are subjected to milling in a bead mill using zirconia beads to prepare powder having a flakiness of 0.03 to 0.4. The zirconia adhered to the surface of the powder is removed by pickling. A load of 10 to 15 kN is applied to 0.5 to 1.0 g of the pickled powder, thereby compacting the powder into a columnar compact body. The compact body is kept and fired in a vacuum atmosphere of 10?5 to 10?3 Pa at a temperature of 1000 to 1300° C. for 1 to 3 hours to form a sintered body. The sintered body is pressed into a pipe having an inner diameter of 0.90 to 0.99 times of the outer diameter of the sintered body, and extruded to obtain a micropore filter.

  • Patent number: 10137502
Abstract: Near net shape refractory material is made in combustion driven compaction. The gas mixture is combusted, driving a piston or ram into a die containing refractory material powder, compressing the powder into a near net shape. As the chamber is filled with gas, the piston or ram is allowed to rest on the powder, pre-compressing the powder and removing trapped air. During compression, forces reach 150 tsi or more. Loading occurs within several hundred milliseconds. After compression, the shaped refractory part is sintered in a hydrogen environment. This process creates near net shape components with little scrap metal. The apparatus used to perform this process is about the size of a telephone booth and can be moved with a standard forklift. The powder may include a combination of Mo—Re, Re, W—Re, HfC and Hf of a fineness dictated by desired shrinkage, resulting in a material suitable for high-stress, high-temperature applications.

Abstract: An apparatus and process for creating uniformly sized, spherical nanoparticles from a solid target. The solid target surface is ablated to create an ejecta event containing nanoparticles moving away from the surface. Ablation may be caused by laser or electrostatic discharge. At least one electromagnetic field is placed in front of the solid target surface being ablated. The electromagnetic field manipulates at least a portion of the nanoparticles as they move away from the target surface through the electromagnetic field to increase size and spherical shape uniformity of the nanoparticles. The manipulated nanoparticles are collected.
