    Abstract: A catalyst composition for the production of carbon nanotubes (CNT) with controlled morphology is disclosed. The catalyst is represented by formula [(MxMny)Moz][binary metal oxide](100?(x+y+z)), where x is in the range 1 to 25 wt %, y is in the range 0.1 to 20 wt %, and z is in the range 0.0 to 10 wt %. Further M represents either iron or cobalt or nickel along with manganese and molybdenum supported on binary metal oxides comprising of boron, magnesium, aluminum, silicon, calcium, barium, and combination thereof. The CNT morphology can be tailor-made with the plural combination of nature of metal and promoters in appropriate proportions. The process yields the CNT with bulk density in the range of 0.01 to 0.20 g/cc, diameter in the range of 5 to 30 nm and purity greater than 95 wt %.

The method avoids the damage to a graphene oxide crystal structure caused by high-energy ultrasonic waves, high-speed shearing, or fluid pulverizing; and the obtained graphene is large in size and high in conductivity, and can be used in the fields of high-efficiency heat management, flexible display, energy conversion and storage, and the like.

    Abstract: Aluminum (Al) hydrocarbon precursor compositions are provided that can be used for vapor deposition of transition metal carbide thin films, for example aluminum-doped transition metal carbide thin films such as Al-doped titanium carbide thin films.     Abstract: Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CNPs) have been proven to exhibit antioxidant properties attributed to its surface oxidation states (Ce4+ to Ce3+ and vice versa) mediated at the oxygen vacancies on the surface of CNPs. Different anions in precursor cerium salts were used to prepare CNPs resulting in disclosed CNPs with varying physicochemical properties such as dispersion stability, hydrodynamic size, and the signature surface chemistry. The antioxidant catalytic activity and oxidation potentials of different CNPs have been significantly altered with the change of anions in the precursor salts. For one, CNPs prepared using precursor salts containing NO3? and Cl? ions exhibited increased antioxidant activity than previously thought possible. The change in oxidation potentials of CNPs with the change in concentration of the nitrate and chloride ions indicates the disclosed CNP's have different surface chemistry and antioxidant properties. These compositions and methods of their synthesis are disclosed.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for treating municipal and sanitary wastewater that uses only mechanical devices and processes, which eliminates biological processes and settling tanks. The system includes a three-output Richter-type separator that separates wastewater into three fluid streams according to the specific gravity of the solids within the fluid streams. The lighter-than-water and heavier-than-water solids streams are combined and the resultant sludge is mechanically dewatered without intermediary biological-process systems or sedimentation. The partially-clarified water component can be directly filtered by a membrane filter and optionally optically or chemically disinfected for reuse or disposal. The system advantageously simplifies municipal and sanitary wastewater treatment eliminating traditional primary and secondary treatment stages, and significantly reducing the system's operational footprint. The system and method can be scaled to very large municipal systems.

The methods include providing a glass-ceramic article having a non-damaged surface, applying a chemical etching solution to the non-damaged surface, and removing the chemical etching solution. The chemical etching solution modifies the non-damaged surface so that from about 0.01 ?m to about 2 ?m of a depth of the glass-ceramic article is removed. The chemical etching solution modifies the non-damage surface of the glass-ceramic article to form a roughened surface having a reduced gloss value and a target roughness value.
