Abstract: The present invention uses a time-series waveform of biosignal information collected from the back of a person and including biological sound and vibration (back body surface pulse wave). The back body surface pulse wave is pressure vibration arising from cardiac and aortic motions, and includes ventricular systolic and diastolic information and information on vascular wall elasticity which serves as an auxiliary pump for the circulation, and is considered as a vibration system including both the damping of viscous damping friction and the damping of solid friction. The back body surface pulse wave fluctuates according to a flow rate (stroke volume) of blood pumped out from the heart, and the fluctuation of this flow rate is reflected in the amplitude of the time-series waveform of the back body surface pulse wave.

Abstract: A non-invasive measurement of biological tissue reveals information about the function of that tissue. Polarized light is directed onto the tissue, stimulating the emission of fluorescence, due to one or more endogenous fluorophors in the tissue. Fluorescence anisotropy is then calculated. Such measurements of fluorescence anisotropy are then used to assess the functional status of the tissue, and to identify the existence and severity of disease states. Such assessment can be made by comparing a fluorescence anisotropy profile with a known profile of a control.

Abstract: A device and a method which monitors the pulse transit time of a heart beat is disclosed, i.e. the time taken for a heart impulse to travel from the heart to a limb of a subject. The time taken to travel is calibrated to blood pressure of the subject by a pre-determined formula. However, the calibration is augmented by empirical observations, obtaining several optional calibrations. The most suitable of the calibrations is selected to interpret each pulse transit time reading based on proximity of the pulse transit time. Hence, it is possible that every pulse transit time reading may use a different calibration. The method diminishes the effect of physiological change in the subject which causes drift in a solely formula based calibration.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system is disclosed for modifying the properties of a consumable liquid to preventively treat or functionally correct human health conditions. The system includes a database storing human health conditions and an electronic device having a processor communicatively coupled to the database. The electronic device captures at least one visual image or video of a face of a person over a defined period of time via a digital camera. The captured images or video are processed by the electronic device to obtain the person's cardiointervalogram. From the cardiointervalogram, the electronic device identifies a particular human health condition of the person by comparing slow wave parameters of the cardiointervalogram to the corresponding human health conditions stored in the database. The electronic device then determines specified properties for light waves and/or acoustic waves based on the identified health condition(s).

Abstract: A method for determining a lowest stimulation threshold current level in a group of channels of a neuromonitoring device. The method includes stimulating tissue at a current level from a predetermined range of current levels as a sequence of pulses delivered at a frequency. The stimulating includes increasing the current level of each pulse in the sequence of pulses from an immediately preceding pulse by a first current increment. The method includes determining that a first evocation pulse from the sequence of pulses evokes a first muscular response. The method includes stimulating the tissue with a second evocation pulse from the sequence of pulses to evoke a second muscular response. The stimulating includes decreasing the frequency of the delivery of each pulse in the sequence of pulses and increasing the current level of each pulse in the sequence of pulses from the immediately preceding pulse by a second current increment.

Abstract: Disclosed is a portable monitoring module and a monitoring method utilizing the module for monitoring a plurality of electrical biosignals of a person. The module includes a measurement for measuring an electrical biosignal from the at least two electrodes, a wireless communication unit, and a processing unit. The processing unit selects a biosignal type to be monitored from a list of types supported by the monitoring module, store samples of biosignal data generated by the measurement unit, detect an indicator pattern within the biosignal data, wherein the indicator pattern represents an indication of a possible event of the selected biosignal type, and send a set of biosignal data wirelessly to a validation system. The set of biosignal data represents a sequence of samples of biosignal data related to the detected indicator pattern, and the validation system confirms the presence of the event in the received set of biosignal data.

Abstract: A system and method for non-invasively monitoring the hemodynamic state of a patient by determining on a beat-by-beat basis the ratio of lusitropic function to inotropic function as an index of myocardial well-being or pathology for use by clinicians in the hospital or by the patient at home. In one embodiment of the system a smartphone running an application program that is connected through the internet to the cloud processes electronic signals, first, from an electrocardiogram device monitoring electrical cardiac activity, and second, from a seismocardiogram device monitoring mechanical cardiac activity in order to determine such ratio as an instantaneous measurement of the hemodynamic state of the patient, including such states as sepsis, myocardial ischemia, and heart failure.

Abstract: Computational models and methods and systems of using the model to estimate variable time delay in the sensorimotor system of a subject are provided. The computational model can estimate variable time delays in the sensorimotor system, predict sensory states based on delayed sensory feedback, and/or control the system in real time. The subject can be a human or a primate. Simulation experiments can show how the model can explain a sensorimotor system's ability to compensate for delays during online learning and control.

Based on the substance consumption characteristics and the user's profile, the user's substance consumption profile is identified and average amount of the substance in the body at a given time is computed. A threshold corresponding to amount of substance the body can sustain is then computed based on goals set by the user and the substance consumption characteristics and the user's profile. Alerts can be generated and transmitted to the user based on pre-determined conditions to help the user achieve his set goals.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a patient off-bed notification system, which includes a pressure-sensitive sensor pad, a signal converter, and a signal transmitter. The pressure-sensitive sensor pad includes an upper conductive layer, a bottom conductive layer, and an insulating layer arranged therebetween, where the upper conductive layer and the bottom conductive layer can generate an electrical signal due to a pressure change. The signal converter is used to receive the electrical signal from the pressure-sensitive sensor pad and perform operational analysis to produce a corresponding patient status signal. The signal transmitter transmits the patient status signal from the signal converter to a server, and the server displays or/and stores corresponding information according to the patient status signal. Thus, patient's statuses in bed can be known at any time, and the harm caused when the patient leaves the bed alone can be minimized, thus effectively improving the work efficiency of caregivers.
