Abstract: Agricultural planting implements, as well as other ground-engaging implements, can utilize supplemental force assemblies to provide up and/or down force at the row or rows of the implements. The force can be used to overcome changing field conditions, obstructions, as well as changing particulate amounts and weights carried by the rows of the implements, and the implement itself. The up force can be set at system pressure, or can include control valves at each of the row units to control the amount of up force provided. The down force can be controlled by control valves at each of the row units, and can be used to overcome the up pressure or provide a designated amount of down force to the row.

Abstract: A sensor device for determining a position of seeds while sowing. The sensor device includes a radiation assembly which generates an illumination radiation oriented towards a target area, and a detection assembly. The radiation assembly includes a radiation source which provides an emission spectrum of the illumination radiation covering a spectral range. The detection assembly includes a radiation detector which detects an incident radiation, and a filter member with an attenuation band and a pass band. The radiation detector includes a field of view. The pass band has an attenuation which is less than an attenuation of the attenuation band in a wavelength range where the wavelengths are longer than those of the attenuation band. The target area and the field of view intersect. The radiation source and the radiation detector form a triangulation arrangement so that a distance from the target area to the detection assembly can be determined.

Abstract: A liquid application apparatus includes a plurality of control assemblies, each with input and output ports, a liquid information sensor, and a position controlled valve activator operative to activate a valve to vary a flow opening size. A controller receives liquid and position information and sets each control assembly to dispense the same desired rate of flow of liquid from the each output port by activating each valve activator to move the valve activator to a valve position where the size of the flow opening achieves the desired rate of flow. The controller is operative to compare a position of the valve activator in a first control assembly with the positions of the valve activators in other control assemblies to determine a malfunction. The liquid information sensor is typically a flow sensor or a pressure sensor.

Abstract: It was found that plants with loss of functional Msi2 protein due to a nucleotide polymorphism resulting in the introduction of a premature stop codon in the Msi2 protein, are able to induce haploid offspring after a cross to or with a wild type plant comprising a functional Msi2 protein. The invention relates to generation of haploid and doubled haploid plants.
