Abstract: The present invention relates to a calibration method of magnetic sensors, for removing from the measurements the so-called “bias” and obtaining the actual measurement of the magnetic field. This method, in addition to measurements of such magnetic sensors, uses measurements of angular rotation sensors available in various types of commercial devices including smartphones. The present invention also relates to a corresponding system for determining the instantaneous real time orientation and/or position of a mobile device with respect to a magnetic field.

Abstract: The tape-suspended fully mechanical meridian gyroscope makes it possible to achieve the objective of north-seeking significantly more economically than before. The gyroscope is started up to the necessary rotational speed at the gyroscope cap thereof by an external force source in order to then rotationally move towards north, while suspended on the supporting tape, as a coast-down gyroscope. In order to stop a persisting rotation that goes beyond north, a damping means intervenes until a standstill is reached at north. In order to reliably achieve this, a system that can be finely adjusted with respect to the friction forces is used as the damping means. The north-seeking system according to the invention should be used especially in tunnel construction and in road construction, in azimuth finding, in mountainous terrain, and in many special technical tasks. Failures having electrical or electronic causes do not occur.

Abstract: Disclosed is a micro flow device including a body frame defining a chamber and having a first port and a second port into the chamber. A first membrane carrying a first electrode is disposed over a first face of the body frame and a second membrane carrying a second electrode is disposed over a second face of the body frame. An axle member is disposed in the chamber affixed to the first and second membrane and a wheel member is disposed in the chamber about the axle member and spaced from the axle element by a gap. An interrupter feature is formed on the wheel, with the interrupter feature causing a variation in capacitance between the first and second electrodes during rotation of the wheel. Also disclosed are techniques for providing freely rotating, sliding, moving, etc. features in devices fabricated by roll to roll processes.

Abstract: A sensor unit includes a heater that heats a measurement target fluid, and outputs a sensor value that corresponds to a thermal diffusion state of the fluid heated by the heater when the heater is driven so that a difference between a temperature of the heater and a temperature of the fluid at a position where there is no thermal effect of the heater is to be equal to a set temperature difference. A processing unit calculates an estimated value obtained by multiplying the sensor value by a value obtained by dividing the set temperature difference by a difference between the temperature of the heater and a measured temperature of the fluid. A flow rate calculation unit calculates a flow rate of the fluid from the estimated value.

Abstract: A float floats on a liquid inside a container and is movable upward and downward according to a liquid surface level. A cover is located inside the container and houses the float inside the cover. A detector detects the position of the float. The cover includes a support part and a wall part. The support part allows upward and downward displacement of the float and restricts displacement of the float outward from the cover. The wall part is located around the support part. The wall part has an opening that allows communication between the inside of the cover and the outside of the cover. The area of the opening is larger than the surface area of the wall part except the opening.
