Patent number: 10207219Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for dehumidifying air by establishing a humidity gradient across a water selective permeable membrane in a dehumidification unit. Water vapor from relatively humid atmospheric air entering the dehumidification unit is extracted by the dehumidification unit without substantial condensation into a low pressure water vapor chamber operating at a partial pressure of water vapor lower than the partial pressure of water vapor in the relatively humid atmospheric air. For example, water vapor is extracted through a water permeable membrane of the dehumidification unit into the low pressure water vapor chamber. As such, the air exiting the dehumidification unit is less humid than the air entering the dehumidification unit. The low pressure water vapor extracted from the air is subsequently condensed and removed from the system at ambient conditions.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2014Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Assignee: The Texas A&M University SystemInventors: David E. Patent number: 10207237Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring a particle/fluid mixture are provided. The method can include flowing a mixture comprising charged particles and a fluid past a particle accumulation probe. The method can also include measuring electrical signals detected by the probe as some charged particles pass the probe without contacting the probe while other charged particles contact the probe. The measured electrical signals can be manipulated to provide an output. The method can also include determining from the output if the charged particles contacting the probe have, on average, a different charge than the charged particles that pass the probe without contacting the probe.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2017Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Assignee: Univation Technologies, LLCInventor: Eric J. Patent number: 10207245Abstract: A voltage application device according to the present disclosure includes a voltage application circuit and a control circuit. The control circuit causes the voltage application circuit to alternately repeat a first mode and a second mode. The first mode is a mode that raises a voltage while time elapses, and generates a discharge current by promoting corona discharge to dielectric breakdown. The second mode is a mode that lowers the voltage to cut off the discharge current by causing a load to be in an overload state against the voltage application circuit. This can suppress an amount of ozone generated, while increasing an amount of radicals produced.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2017Date of Patent: February 19, 2019Assignee: PANASONIC INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT CO., LTD.Inventors: Yukari Nakano, Itaru Saida
