Abstract: A continuous casting device having multi-stage convergence control is disclosed. Cooling surfaces of the continuous casting device can be articulated in stages, providing individual convergence control to longitudinally spaced-apart regions of the casting cavity. In a proximal region, during which the molten metal exhibits solidification shrinkage, a first convergence profile can be used to optimally account for the solidification shrinkage. In a subsequent distal region, a second convergence profile can be used, such as to provide optimal control of exit temperature of the continuously cast article. Multi-stage convergence control can be achieved through individually articulatable cooling pads or other supports positioned opposite the cooling surfaces from the casting cavity to displace the cooling surfaces and thereby adjust the convergence profile of the casting cavity.

Abstract: A liquid composition includes copper particles, an organic acid, and a solvent. The copper particle has a particle size of 0.5 ?m˜30 ?m which falls in a micron scale. The liquid composition performs reaction sintering by redox reactions taken place between the copper particles and an organic acid solution at a low temperature of 150° C. in order to produce a dense copper layer and improve the conventional micron-scale copper particles that requires a protective atmosphere for the high-temperature sintering before achieving the required densification. This liquid composition also prevents an excessive oxidation of the nano copper particles during the low-temperature sintering process and a failure of the dense sintering. Due to the agglomeration of nano copper particles, some areas have to be sintered first, so that the sintered products have a good uniformity of tissue and a low resistance below 0.04 ohm per square (?/?).

Abstract: Disclosed is a handle clamp for an exothermic mold. The clamp includes a pair of legs, each having a plurality of rods that are shaped to fit into engagement holes on sections of the mold. The rods of each leg engage with one section of the mold. Engagement brackets are rotatably disposed on one or more or the rods. The brackets each have a thumb bolt that can be extended toward a mold section connected with the clamp. When engaged with the mold section, the thumb bolt stabilizes the mold section on the handle. A detent mechanism is provided between the bracket and the leg of the handle. The detent mechanism releaseably holds the bracket in one of a selected plurality of rotational positions with respect to the rod. By selecting different rotational positions for the brackets, the handle can be configured to engage with different configurations of mold. The thumb bolts that are biased toward the mold section by a spring. The bolts include a key that can be aligned or misaligned with a key slot on the bracket.
