Abstract: A prosthetic liner for use with a prosthetic socket that has a thermoplastic elastomeric (TPE) layer that is in contact with the amputee's residual limb. The TPE layer is not uniform in thickness but has ridges to extend circumferentially around the TPE layer. A fabric layer covers the outer surface of the TPE layer conforming to the ridges and is used as a substrate to form a mechanical bond to an outer seal layer. The outer seal layer is formed by applying an uncured material to the fabric around the ridges thereby creating an air tight boundary layer when inserted into a socket. When vacuum is applied the air is evacuated from the volume below the seal layer.

Abstract: A dental instrument hanger has the body of a reader/writer, or an antenna connected to the body, arranged in a hanger unit so as to read identification information from a wireless tag, in a state that an instrument having the wireless tag preliminarily attached thereto is placed in the hanger unit. The hanger includes: an identification information storage that stores the read identification information in a database; a reading history detector that, in response to a driving instruction having been inputted, detects the latest reading history and a reading history read before the instrument displaced from the hanger unit has been displaced with reference to said storage; an identification information specifier that determines a difference between the two reading histories to specify a wireless tag attached to the instrument which has been instructed to drive; and a usage information generator that generates usage information of the instrument.

Abstract: A method of controlling an exoskeleton device of a user performs fall mitigation operations. The control method may be performed by executing program code stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium. The exoskeleton device may be a powered legged mobility device including a plurality of drive components that drive joint components including at least knee joint components and hip joint components. The control method includes detecting a fall state including a direction and an extent of a fall; classifying the fall state based on the direction and the extent of the fall; and controlling the drive components of the exoskeleton device to selectively modulate one or more joint components in accordance with the fall classification to perform a fall mitigation operation. The control method further may include controlling the drive components to perform a recovery operation to aid the user in returning to standing position after the fall.

Abstract: An apparatus that includes a composite fuselage and motion control system designed to protect the human leg from knee pain and muscular fatigue created by repetitive vertical movement or extended periods of squatting. Fuselage panels and frame encapsulate the leg and functionally integrate with hard shell boots to create a rigid exoskeleton structure that resists radial displacement of the knee or ankle. The fuselage ‘open clamshell’ leg harness utilizes wide composite body panels that disperse pressure across a large surface area, allowing the harness to provide body mass support and device securement without restriction of the body's circulatory system.

Abstract: A portable, closed-loop system of capture, analysis, and feedback uses a headset containing a small unobtrusive camera and a control computer that communicates wirelessly with a wireless network and/or remote platform. The headset may also contain user controls, an audio feedback component, a battery, interconnection circuitry, cables, and connections for an intraoral device. The camera component of the headset captures images during an activity to be analyzed, such as walking or viewing a room, and sends data (e.g., visual data) to the controller. The controller transmits the data to a database on the remote platform that includes software that instantly analyzes the image information represented in the data, then provides immediate feedback to the headset. The controller may independently process the data.
