The system may be remotely located from one or more MRI acquisition systems, and perform: perform error detection and/or correction on MRI data sets (e.g., phase error correction, phase aliasing, signal unwrapping, and/or on other artifacts); segmentation; visualization of flow (e.g., velocity, arterial versus venous flow, shunts) superimposed on anatomical structure, quantification; verification; and/or generation of patient specific 4-D flow protocols. An asynchronous command and imaging pipeline allows remote image processing and analysis in a timely and secure manner even with complicated or large 4-D flow MRI data sets.

Abstract: Methods, computing devices, and computer-readable medium are described herein related to producing detection signals configured to induce an excited state of an object. A computing device may receive reflection signals, where the reflection signals correspond to at least one detection signals reflected from the object. Based on the received reflection signals, a presence of the object in the excited state may be determined. Further, an output device may provide an indication of the presence of the object in the excited state.

Abstract: Systems and methods for automatically triggering wireless power and data exchange between an external reader and an implanted sensor. The implanted sensor may measure the strength of an electrodynamic field received wirelessly from the reader and convey field strength data based on the measured strength of the received electrodynamic field to the reader. If the field strength data indicates that the strength of an electrodynamic field received by the sensor is sufficient for the implanted sensor to perform an analyte measurement, the reader may convey an analyte measurement command to the sensor, which may execute the analyte measurement command and convey measurement information back to the reader. The systems and methods may trigger the analyte measurement as the reader transiently passes within sufficient range/proximity to the implant (or vice versa).

Abstract: To provide an exhaled-air pressure measuring device capable of deciding on exhaled-air pressure levels suitable for usage purposes. An exhaled-air pressure measuring device measures the pressure of air exhaled by a user, and on the basis of the measurement result, decides on an exhaled-air pressure level which corresponds to the pressure of the exhaled air. The exhaled-air pressure measuring device includes a measuring device body and a mouthpiece portion from which the user exhales into the device. The measuring device body includes: a microcomputer which stores threshold data representing a threshold of the exhaled-air pressure level and decides on the exhaled-air pressure level corresponding to the exhaled-air pressure of a detection signal detected by a pressure sensor; and a USB terminal which is connected to an external storage device so as to change the threshold data stored in the microcomputer.

Abstract: The present invention provides a patient inhalation/exhalation device such as a spirometer, respiratory inhaler or spacer, the device comprising: at least one aperture for inlet or outlet of air into/from the device; a mouthpiece for communication with the mouth of the patient; and a body defining an air flow path extending between the aperture and the mouthpiece along which air is drawn to the mouthpiece by inhalation by the patient or air is forced towards the aperture by exhalation by the patient. The body comprises an air flow rate indicator operable to generate a sound signal to indicate when the air flow rate along the air flow path is at or above a predetermined minimum level. In another aspect, the present invention provides a device for indicating a desired fluid flow rate along a fluid flow path through a respiratory inhaler.

Abstract: A spirometer comprises a housing defining a fluid flow pathway extending between a first end and a second end, a first opening along the pathway and a second opening longitudinally spaced along the pathway from the first opening. A flow chamber defining a fluid flow pathway is disposed within the housing between the first opening and the second opening, the flow chamber including an elongated resistive element along the central longitudinal axis of the flow chamber for defining a flow passage through the flow chamber between the resistive element and the inner surface of the flow chamber. The flow chamber conditions fluid flow for accurate sensing of the fluid flow over a range. A pressure sensor is disposed within the housing in fluid communication with the first opening and the second opening for sensing a pressure differential between the first opening and the second opening and producing an electric signal that corresponds with the rate of fluid flow through the housing.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems for determining the frequency of a periodic physiological process of a subject, particularly respiration rate or heart rate, are disclosed. In one arrangement plural time windows of physiological data are obtained. Reference features corresponding to modulation modes are identified. Modulations of the reference features are extracted. Quality parameters are obtained by processing the extracted modulations. The quality parameters represent how strongly the extracted modulation exhibits a waveform of the periodic physiological process. The extracted modulations are processed to calculate the frequency of the periodic physiological process of the subject.

Abstract: A catheter connector is described having a hydrophobic end cap or washer located around the end opening to the connector's lumen. The diameter and length of the lumen below the washer is sufficiently large enough to accommodate an absorbent tubular filter that changes color when exposed to fluid. The washer acts to limit the size of the water droplet that might adhere to the end of the catheter and help maintain surface tension on the droplet to prevent it from entering the lumen. The hydrophilic tubular filter absorbs any water that might pass by the washer and thus keeps the lumen hole open.
