Abstract: Disclosed are various examples and embodiments of systems, devices, components and methods configured to detect a location of a source of at least one cardiac rhythm disorder in a patient's heart, such as atrial fibrillation, and to classify same. Velocity vector maps reveal the location of the source of the at least one cardiac rhythm disorder in the patient's heart, which may be, by way of example, an active rotor in the patient's myocardium and atrium. The resulting velocity vector map may be further processed and/or analyzed to classify the nature of the patient's cardiac rhythm disorder, e.g., as Type A, B or C atrial fibrillation. The resulting cardiac rhythm classification then can be used to determine the optimal, most efficacious and/or most economic treatment or surgical procedure that should be provided to the individual patient. Abstract: A device for reducing traumatic brain injury comprises a first sensor, a first linkage element, and a processing element. The first sensor is coupled to a head component and configured to measure an acceleration of a user's head and to generate a sequence of real-time measured samples. The first linkage element is configured to connect the head component to a body component and is able to switch between a first state in which it is relatively flexible and a second state in which it is relatively rigid. The first linkage element is switched from its first state to its second state by a locking signal. The processing element is configured to receive the real-time measured samples and to generate the locking signal when each of a portion of the real-time measured samples is greater than one of a corresponding portion of a plurality of dynamic concussion thresholds.

Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of providing a muscle activity measurement device and a muscle activity measurement method which make it possible to measure the muscle activity of an object to be sensed with increased accuracy. The muscle activity measurement device 1 according to the present invention is provided with a magnetic sensor unit 11 which senses a magnetic field generated from a living body, and an identification means which identifies an installed direction of the muscle activity measurement device 1. The identification means includes an indication 24, on a surface of a container 20, which comprises identification information for installing the muscle activity measurement device 1 in such a way that a magnetism sensing direction X of the magnetic sensor unit 11 and the direction in which the muscle fibers of the living body as the object to be sensed extend are substantially orthogonal to each other.

Abstract: A control device establishes a change in a main magnetic field expected for a respective time instant and based on the established expected change in the main magnetic field, correctively adjusts the main magnetic field and/or a nominal receive frequency of the RF receive coil and/or a transmit frequency for subsequent RF transmit pulses and/or takes the expected change in the main magnetic field into account in the evaluation of the received MR signals. At least for some of the RF transmit pulses, the control device acquires, via a sensor device, a portion of the respective radiofrequency wave supplied to the RF transmit coil. The controller extracts therefrom an oscillation corresponding to a respiratory motion of the patient and based on the variation with time of the extracted oscillation, establishes the change in the main magnetic field expected for the respective time instant.

Abstract: Systems and methods use a three-dimensional snapshot of an infant, child, adolescent, or adult where the subject may have bent legs and an unaligned head position, to provide an estimate of human length. The system identifies anatomical features from the digital information and generates a virtual skeleton. The cumulative distances between pseudo-joints of the virtual skeleton provide an estimate of human length. Comparing length estimates from multiple three-dimensional snapshots of the same individual acquired over time provide an indication of growth of the infant, child, or adolescent. Daily estimates of length can detect growth faltering sooner than less frequent estimates of length, which can lead to timely intervention.

Abstract: A gait monitoring and stimulation device utilizing multiple sensors for actively monitoring for gait freezing events and utilizing multiple types of gait stimulation cues or modes in response to the detection of a gait freezing event experienced by a user. The gait monitoring and stimulation device utilizes global positioning system geographic data, accelerometer data, and audio data to determine whether a gait freezing event is likely being experienced by a user. A laser device used in conjunction with a lens having a diffractive optical element, is utilized to project a visual cue comprising the image of a descending staircase onto the ground in front of the user of the device. Auditory stimulation cues are also provided. One or more accelerometers monitor the orientation of the device, deactivating the laser if the device orientation exceeds a threshold angle likely to lead to eye damage caused by the laser.

Abstract: A method to identify feature points associated with the heart valve movement, heart contraction or cardiac hemodynamics is revealed. The mechanocardiography (MCG) is a technology that makes use of vibrational waveforms acquired using at least one gravity sensor attached on one of the four heart valve auscultation sites on the body surface. The data of the electrocardiography (ECG) is recorded simultaneously with the MCG The feature points are identified by comparing P, R and T points of synchronized ECG with the MCG spectrum. By the time sequences and amplitudes of the feature points, the method provides additional clinical information of cardiac cycle abnormalities for diagnosis.
