  • Patent number: 10294653
Abstract: A rain overflow basin for collecting and storing rainwater, mixed water, or wastewater, has an inflow, an outflow, a basin chamber, a basin spillway, which is equipped with a weir threshold and is connected downstream of the basin chamber. A drain discharges the basin spillway, and a purification device purifies water flowing from the basin chamber to the basin spillway. A retention wall between the basin chamber and the basin spillway dams up water accumulating in the basin chamber. Water draining from the basin chamber is dammed up in a storage space is between the retention wall and the weir threshold, to reach the basin spillway via the weir threshold. The retention wall includes a passage opening. A purification device extends into the basin chamber such that water draining from the basin chamber through the passage opening into the storage space flows through the retention element.

  • Patent number: 10294668
Abstract: A foam backed composite framed structure is substantially stiffened by reconfiguring some of the foam backing from a dropped section, between the frame members, to a continuous section above the frame members. The framed structure is comprised of a foam backed panel, which is a cladding with a foam backing, that is adhesively bonded to frame members. The thicker the continuous section of foam, the stiffer the framed structure. Since the frame is bonded to the cladding by the continuous section of foam, it eliminates the need for nails or other fasteners and thereby eliminates the thermal bridges caused by such fasteners. This results in a stronger structure with increased thermal insulation and fewer frame members.

  • Patent number: 10294672
Abstract: Improved building-integrated photovoltaic systems according to certain example embodiments may include concentrated photovoltaic skylights or other windows having a cylindrical lens array. The skylight may include an insulated glass unit, which may improve the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). The photovoltaic skylight and lens arrays may be used in combination with strip solar cells. Arrangements that involve lateral displacement tracking systems, or static systems (e.g., that are fixed at one, two, or more predefined positions) are contemplated herein. Such techniques may advantageously help to reduce cost per watt related, in part, to the potentially reduced amount of semiconductor material to be used for such example embodiments. A photovoltaic skylight may permit diffuse daylight to pass through into an interior of a building so as to provide lighting inside the building, while the strip solar cells absorb the direct sunlight and convert it to electricity, providing for SHGC tuning.

A tilting mechanism is coupled between the base section of the telescoping support structure so as to tilt the telescoping support structure about a second tilt path aligned perpendicular to the tilt path between the first and second opposed vertical sections of the frame.

Abstract: A portable shelter including a canopy frame with frame support beams that are connected at corner junctions to define a frame perimeter. Roof support beams extend from the corner junctions to a rooftop peak. A base including legs is connected to the canopy frame at the corner junctions. A canopy extends over the canopy frame to form a roof. The canopy may be attached to the base and/or the canopy frame by hook-and-loop fastener strips. A rooftop opening is provided in the canopy adjacent the rooftop peak to allow smoke to escape from under the canopy when a fire is lit under the portable shelter. A removable top cap is retained over the rooftop opening by a magnetic coupling that allows the rooftop opening to be closed when not in use. Partial side curtains may be provided that cover only a lower half of the base.

  • Patent number: 10294693
Abstract: A latch apparatus is formed of a cantilevered beam (202) and a button (204). The cantilevered beam (202) comprises a loading feature (210) and a notch (216), while the button (204) comprises a slot (218) and an engagement tab (220). When mounted within a cavity of a housing, the cantilevered beam and button provide both push-in and side sliding movement of the button. The latch is locked by sliding the button in one direction, and the latch is unlocked by pushing the button inward and then sliding the button in an opposite direction. The housing may further comprise an angled catch feature within the cavity for mating with a complimentary angle of the button to avoid inadvertent unlocking of the latch. The combination of push in force and side sliding force minimizes inadvertent unlocking of the latch assembly.

Abstract: Various embodiments of an integrated wireless door lock and camera are disclosed. A wireless door lock comprises a camera that is activated upon the occurrence of certain events, such as when a person approaches a door where the integrated wireless door lock and camera are installed or when a doorbell is pressed. When activated, the camera sends video or still images to a networked user device for viewing an area outside, proximate to the door. If the person in the viewable area is recognized, a wireless signal may be sent to the integrated wireless door lock and camera to unlock the door.

Abstract: A latch for capturing a striker includes a latch cam, a trigger, a drive cam, a motor coupled to the drive cam, and a switch coupled to the motor. The latch cam is biased to rotate toward an open position and configured to capture the striker in a closed position. The drive cam uses at least one cam surface to contact the trigger, and the switch permits actuation of the motor to rotate the drive cam when sensing the trigger or the drive cam, thereby rotating the drive cam to urge the trigger toward an unlocked position, disengage the trigger from the latch cam, and allow the latch cam to rotate from the closed position toward the open position. A system incorporating the latch and method of capturing a striker is also provided.
