  • Patent number: 10300872
Abstract: A bumper beam formed of fiber reinforced resin containing continuous fibers oriented at least in the vehicle width direction sufficiently absorbs the collision energy of a high-speed collision in the fiber reinforced resin. The bumper beam also has a center portion positioned in the center in the vehicle width direction and protruding outward in the front-back direction, and right and left outer portions inclined from the respective ends of the center portion seen in the vehicle width direction toward the inner side in the front-back direction. The outer portions each have a resin foam member protruding outward in front-back direction. Thus, at the time of a low speed collision, the resin foam member is crushed to absorb part of the collision energy so that the energy is absorbed and distributed over the center and outer portions, protecting the car body frame from deformation.

  • Patent number: 10300876
Abstract: Systems and approaches for detecting an event, such as a crash involving a motorized and/or non-motorized vehicle, are described. In one approach, a listening component of a mobile computing device is first activated. This listening component may then monitor the sound proximate thereto (e.g., within the vehicle in which the mobile computing device is disposed). Using one or more processors, an audio source may be detected which was generated by an event (such as, for example, a crash involving the vehicle and/or an alerting triggering phrase) and was sensed by the listening component. Using an audio recognition technique, the detected audio source is processed to determine a severity of the event which generated the audio signal. This detection step may include identifying a type and magnitude of the detected audio signal using audio signal identification data. An information signal based on the severity of the event is then transmitted.

  • Patent number: 10300894
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an auto-braking system which includes a braking device, a receiver, and a controller. The controller includes a determining portion, a verifying portion and an executing portion. The determining portion determines whether a vehicle will violate a red signal of the traffic light based on the traffic light state information. The verifying portion verifies the traffic light state information is valid by comparing the traffic light state information with the image of the traffic light captured by the sensor. The executing portion executes a first braking control to slow the vehicle at a first deceleration rate when the determining portion determines that the vehicle will violate a red signal. The executing portion executes a second braking control to slow the vehicle at a second deceleration rate to stop at a specified position when the verifying portion verifies that the traffic light state information is valid.

Abstract: A brake device having an electric parking brake function, capable of appropriately performing stepwise increase control for a clamping force. A control unit including a computing circuit (20), a memory (21), and each motor drive circuit (23) of a parking brake control device (19) includes a stepwise increase control unit configured to increase the clamping force generated by brake pads (33) to a disc rotor (4) in a stepwise manner. When start of contact between the disc rotor (4) and the brake pads (33) caused by feeding of power from the parking brake control device (19) to an electric motor (43B) is detected based on a motor current from a current sensor unit (24), the stepwise increase control unit performs control for repeatedly feeding and stopping power to the electric motor (43B) to increase the clamping force in a stepwise manner in accordance with a predefined processing procedure.

  • Patent number: 10300901
Abstract: In a method, a brake torque signal provided by an electronic control unit of an anti-lock braking system is validated. The brake torque signal is enabled for use as a brake event input signal upon being successfully validated for diagnostic and control routines of the vehicle that use the brake torque signal as a brake event input signal. If the brake torque signal fails validation, it is disabled for such use. The brake torque signal is validated by first rationalizing a brake pedal position signal and a master cylinder pressure signal. Once the brake pedal position signal is successfully rationalized with the master cylinder pressure signal, the brake pedal position signal is rationalized with the brake torque signal. The brake torque signal is successfully validated when both rationalizations are successful. The validation fails if either rationalization fails.
