  • Patent number: 10327371
Abstract: A drill attachment for removing weeds and the like from the ground, which has a body with a shaft protruding from the center and at least two prongs protruding from the opposite side of the body. The free end of the shaft is placed into the chuck of an electric drill, and the prongs are forced into the ground around a weed. The user operates the drill, thus spinning the prongs around the weed. The prongs entangle the weed's roots and bore a small hole in the ground, allowing the user to easily remove the weed. The prongs are then placed into the ground close to the hole, and the drill is slowly operated, thus refilling the hole. The device has a plurality of edges and corners that allow the operator to shear weeds and the like that become entangled on it.

One exemplary method includes selecting a subgroup of potential crosses, based on thresholds associated with population prediction scores for the set of potential crosses. The exemplary method further includes selecting multiple target crosses from the subgroup of potential crosses based on a genetic relatedness of the parents in the subgroup of potential crosses, filtering the target crosses based on a rule (or rules) defining a threshold (or thresholds) for at least one characteristic and/or trait, selecting ones of the filtered target crosses based on risk associated with the selected one of the filtered target crosses, and directing the selected ones of the filtered target crosses into a breeding pipeline, thereby providing crosses to the breeding pipeline based, at least in part, on commercial success of parents included in the selected ones of the filtered crosses.

  • Patent number: 10327414
Abstract: A system for controlling the position of a robot carriage includes a linear carriage track positioned adjacent to a rotary milking platform, a robot carriage positioned on the carriage track such that the robot carriage may move along the carriage track, and a controller. The controller determines a rotational movement of a milking stall of the rotary milking platform, and determines a linear movement of the robot carriage on the carriage track corresponding to the rotational movement of the milking stall of the rotary milking platform. The controller further communicates a signal to a carriage actuator coupled to the robot carriage and the carriage track. The signal causes the carriage actuator to move the robot carriage along the carriage track according to the determined linear movement as the rotary milking platform rotates.
