Abstract: Embodiments of hybrid engine welding systems are disclosed. One embodiment includes an engine, a generator, and a first disconnect device to mechanically couple/decouple the engine to/from the generator. A compressor produces a compressed air flow and/or a pump produces a hydraulic pressure. A second disconnect device mechanically couples/decouples the generator to/from the compressor and/or the pump. Electronics operatively connects the generator to a battery. The battery and the electronics power the generator as a motor at variable speeds when the generator is decoupled from the engine and coupled to the compressor or the pump, allowing selectable varying of a magnitude of the compressed air flow and/or the hydraulic pressure.

Abstract: A method for joining two dissimilar metal plates having different volume resistivity with enhanced joint strength. The method includes overlaying a first metal plate made of first metal and a second metal plate made of second metal with higher volume resistivity and higher melting point in comparison with the first metal, bringing a pair of electrodes into contact with the surface of a portion of the second metal plate overlapping the first metal plate, supplying current between the electrodes so as to resistance-heat the second metal present in a current-flowing region to a temperature lower than the melting point of the second metal and higher than the melting point of the first metal, thereby partially melting the first metal plate with the heat so that an intermetallic compound is generated between the first and second metal plates, and thus joining the first and second metal plates via the intermetallic compound.

Abstract: An apparatus that focuses on improving efficiency, profitability, and results in the automotive detailing and automotive paint and body shop industries, contains a first layer, a second layer, and a center layer. An inner surface of the first layer is connected to the center layer. An inner surface of the second layer is connected to the center layer opposite to the first sanding layer. The multiple tiers of the apparatus improve user control and maximizes surface contact between the apparatus and the surface being sanded. A first edge and a second edge of the first layer and the second layer can be a straight-cut edge, a bevel cut edge or a rounded edge. Thus, the apparatus can be used on a variety of surfaces. The consistency and the uniformity of the sanding patterns obtained helps the user compound and polish the sanded surface to a more refined finish.

Abstract: An apparatus for holding a workpiece includes a fixture base, a linear actuator coupled to the fixture base and having an outboard end that is linearly movable by the linear actuator, and a vacuum gripper located at the outboard end of the linear actuator. The linear actuator is configured to linearly move the vacuum gripper relative to the fixture base into contact with a surface of the workpiece. With the vacuum gripper in contact with the surface of the workpiece, the vacuum gripper is configured to grip the workpiece using a vacuum formed between the vacuum gripper and the surface of the workpiece. With the vacuum formed between the vacuum gripper and the surface of the workpiece, the linear actuator is configured to lock linear movement of the vacuum gripper.

Abstract: A hand tool for driving a fastener is provided. The hand tool includes gearing that interconnects a splined socket to a rotatable or trigger actuator and increases a rotational speed of the splined socket relative to the actuator. The hand tool may include a power tool receiver or an independent motor to drive rotation of the splined socket to advance or retract a fastener from a threaded shaft. By increasing the speed and conserving rotational inertia, the hand tool reduces the time to secure a fastener on a threaded shaft. A rotatable nut is provided. The rotatable nut can slideably orient along a first axis and threadedly orient along a second axis to fasten to an adjacent surface.

Abstract: A tool to remove square head drain plugs of the type found in diesel semi-truck rear differentials. The tool consists of two circular portions that are joined together. The first circular portion having a void to insert a square head drain plug and the second circular portion having a void to insert a ½ inch ratchet drive. The tool is used by first inserting the square head drain plug into the first circular portion and, if needed, a hammer may be used to force the tool onto the square head drain plug. Then a ratchet wrench is inserted into the void in the second circular portion so that the ratchet wrench may be utilized to rotate the tool. The tool is made from high strength metal so as to overcome resistance presented by rounded edges that may be exist on drain plugs.

Abstract: The present invention is a floor covering fasteners and adhesives removal tool that allows for the quick removal of a staple, tack nail, and/or adhesives from a material without causing damage. The staple remover portion of the multi-purpose tool works with its forked blade for slipping underneath staples, and using the prying plate oval shape to free the staple. The tack strip nail puller portion of the multi-purpose tool having the nail slot is typically moved laterally relative to the nail. More specifically, the nail slot engages the nail where the force moving prying plate by the handle will sufficient to free the nail from the surface. The glue scraper portion of the multi-purpose tool has a bevel edge to allow the glue scraper to assume more nearly a right angular position to the floor surface sufficient to free the glue residue from the surface.
