  • Patent number: 10391707
Abstract: An additive manufacturing system includes a platen to support an object being manufactured, a dispenser to deliver a plurality of successive layers of a powder over the platen, and energy source configured to fuse at least a portion of the powder. The dispenser is configured to deliver the powder in a linear region that extends along a first axis. The dispenser and actuator are supported by a support structure, and the actuator is coupled to the support structure to move the support structure along a second axis perpendicular to the first axis such that the dispenser and energy source move as a single unit with the support structure and the linear region sweeps along the second axis to deposit the powder along a swath over the platen to form a layer of powder.

  • Patent number: 10391708
Abstract: A method for producing a three-dimensional object by layer by layer solidifying of a material which is solidifiable under the action of radiation is provided. The method makes use of exposure masks. In order to form each object layer to be solidified of the object in a construction plane, there is generated at least one, preferably a single, digital exposure mask by means of which the radiation is selectively projected into the construction plane. For each exposure mask, according to the object layer to be solidified, a single 2-bit bitmap is calculated which assigns either the bit-value “transparent” or the bit-value “non-transparent” to each pixel of the exposure mask. In addition, an improved exposure mask generating apparatus and an improved device for producing a three-dimensional object are proposed.

  • Patent number: 10391712
Abstract: A method of operating a cleaning system removes support material from parts made by a three-dimensional printer. The method operates the cleaning system to correlate data for features on a part located within a receptacle with structural data in a file used by the three-dimensional printer to fabricate the part. The method then operates one or more actuators to locate a fluid directing nozzle pneumatically connected to a pressurized fluid source opposite areas containing support material and operates the pressurized fluid source to enable pressurized fluid to be directed by the fluid directing nozzle at the support material. The method includes generating image data of the cleaned areas with an image sensor so the removal of the support material can be confirmed, and if an area is not sufficiently cleaned, the cleaning operation can be repeated.

Abstract: A method for forming an object having a three-dimensional target shape, that makes use of a build powder, a support powder and a binder. The build powder is more strongly bound by the binder than is the support powder. The build powder and the support powder are dispensed in a sequence of layers of build powder patterned with support powder that collectively form the three-dimensional shape in build powder, and the binder is applied to the deposited build powder, thereby forming the object of build powder and binder. Finally, the formed object is separated from the support powder.
