  • Patent number: 10393266
Abstract: A seal assembly includes a plurality of arcuate seal bodies spaced about a central axis and coupled to form an annular seal disposeable within a housing first chamber. Each seal body has an inner circumferential sealing surface for sealingly against a rotatable member outer surface and an axial end having a radial sealing surface sealingly engageable with a housing radial surface to separate the first chamber and a second housing chamber. One or more lift ramps extend outwardly from the body inner surface and generate an outwardly directed force on the seal body when the inner member rotates within the seal. An elongated projection extends axially from the body end, has radially inner and outer surfaces, and is disposeable within the housing second chamber. The projection outer surface is exposable to fluid pressure within the second chamber to generate a pressure differential between the projection inner and outer surfaces.

  • Patent number: 10393267
Abstract: Methods and systems for metal-to-metal sealing and, in particular, to the use of sintered parts to create metal-to-metal sealing joints is disclosed. In one example, a metal-to-metal sealing joint may comprise: a first mating surface and a second mating surface; wherein the first mating surface is formed on a first assembly having an annular projection with one or more annular grooves and the second mating surface is formed on a second assembly; wherein the projection is configured such that when the first and second surfaces are brought into mating contact, the annular projection on the first mating surface deforms the second mating surface to form a sealing joint. In this way, the metal-to-metal sealing joint between the first and second mating surfaces may minimize oil leakage between two assemblies, thereby improving engine fuel economy while simplifying part manufacturing.

  • Patent number: 10393280
Abstract: A seat valve with electromagnetic actuation combines, in one device, the functions of a seat valve, of a pressure-limiting valve and optionally also of one or more check valves. Furthermore, the switching noise of the seat valve function is reduced. In a de-energized state of an electromagnet, a fluid flow from a port P to a port TNC occurs only if a pressure difference between the ports P and TNC exceeds a limit value of ?pG, wherein the force of the specified pressure difference overcomes the force of a spring and therefore pushes a first sealing body out of a first sealing seat, and in the energized state of the electromagnet, a fluid flow from port P to port TNC occurs even in the case of a pressure difference less than ?pG if the force of the electromagnet together with the force of the pressure difference between the ports P and TNC overcomes the force of the spring, wherein the sum of the specified forces pushes the first sealing body out of the first sealing seat.

  • Patent number: 10393281
Abstract: A pressure relief system is provided and a corresponding method for relieving pressure from a duct routing a gas from a compressor to a load utilizing the same. According to one aspect, a pressure relief assembly, located near the load, and independent of the primary load compressor pressure relief valve, for use with a duct includes a cover, first and second chambers, and a piston. The piston provides a moveable wall between the chambers and is coupled to the cover. As gas from the duct enters the two chambers, the configuration of the chambers provides for a pressure differential that moves the piston and the corresponding cover. This movement transitions the cover from a closed configuration that seals the duct to an open configuration that allows gas within the duct to escape.

  • Patent number: 10393287
Abstract: Various implementations provide an inherently safer design feature for microchannel reactors that provides temperature control at the individual channel level. This approach relies on bimetallic strips embedded within the combustion channel, forming a thermally-actuated “valve”. Bimetallic strips convert a temperature change into a mechanical displacement. Heating the strip increases its deflection and thereby restricts flow in the combustion channels, which consequently reduces the rate of heat generation. The thermally-actuated valve is not limited to use in microchannel reactors and may be used in other structures for which thermally actuated flow control is desired, according to some implementations.

  • Patent number: 10393301
Abstract: A fluid connector having a connector body that is connectable to a first fluid system. The connector body includes a connection mechanism that is connectable to a tube of a second fluid system, and the connector body defines a fluid passageway that allows fluid to flow between the first fluid system and the second fluid system. A connector sleeve surrounds the connector body and is connected thereto, and the connector sleeve is actuatable relative to the connector body between a retracted position and a connected position. The connector sleeve actuates the connection mechanism as the connector sleeve is actuated from the retracted position to the connected position. In addition, the fluid connector is devoid of coil springs and dynamic seals.
