  • Patent number: 10417539
Abstract: A processor causes a transmission circuit to output a carrier signal intermittently. Each time the carrier signal is output, the processor determines whether or not a level of a detection signal is in a satisfactory state. In a first case where the level of the detection signal is determined to be in the satisfactory state, the processor performs a read control to cause the transmission circuit to perform a precharge process and a transmission process. In a second case where the level of the detection signal is not determined to be in the satisfactory state, the processor determines that the unit attachment portion is in a unit non-attachment state. In the first case, when the processor succeeds in identifying the developer information, the processor determines that the unit attachment portion is in a unit attachment state, and otherwise, determines that the unit attachment portion is in an exceptional state.

  • Patent number: 10417560
Abstract: A neural network unit convolves a H×W×C input with F R×S×C filters to generate F Q×P outputs. N processing units (PU) each have a register receiving a memory word and a multiplexed-register selectively receiving a memory word or word rotated from an adjacent PU multiplexed-register. The N PUs are logically partitioned as G blocks each of B PUs. The PUs convolve in a column-channel-row order. For each filter column: the N registers read a memory row, each PU multiplies the register and the multiplexed-register to generate a product to accumulate, and the multiplexed-registers are rotated by one; the multiplexed-registers are rotated to align the input blocks with the adjacent PU block. This is performed for each channel. For each filter row, N multiplexed-registers read a memory row for the multiply-accumulations, F column-channel-row-sums are generated and written to the memory, then all steps are performed for each output row.

  • Patent number: 10417563
Abstract: An intelligent control system based on an explicit model of cognitive development (Table 1) performs high-level functions. It comprises up to O hierarchically stacked neural networks, Nm, . . . , Nm+(O?1), where m denotes the stage/order tasks performed in the first neural network, Nm, and O denotes the highest stage/order tasks performed in the highest-level neural network. The type of processing actions performed in a network, Nm, corresponds to the complexity for stage/order m. Thus N1 performs tasks at the level corresponding to stage/order 1. N5 processes information at the level corresponding to stage/order 5. Stacked neural networks begin and end at any stage/order, but information must be processed by each stage in ascending order sequence. Stages/orders cannot be skipped. Each neural network in a stack may use different architectures, interconnections, algorithms, and training methods, depending on the stage/order of the neural network and the type of intelligent control system implemented.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes a system, method, and computer program for modeling and predicting energy use by non-plug-load mechanical/electrical systems in a building, such as lighting systems or HVAC systems. The present disclosure also discloses methods for using such models and predictions to identify energy saving measures for a building. An energy-consumption model for a building is built from energy-consumption models for components within the mechanical-electrical systems. Inputs to the energy-consumption model (i.e., values of variables in the energy-consumption model) are measurable, and behavior models are created for each of the inputs primarily from sensor and/or other measurement-device data. Using the behavior models, weather data, and the energy-consumption model for the building, a predicted non-plug-load energy use for the building is calculated based on the current configurations of the mechanical/electrical systems.

  • Patent number: 10417570
Abstract: Systems and methods for probabilistic semantic sensing in a sensory network are disclosed. The system receives raw sensor data from a plurality of sensors and generates semantic data including sensed events. The system correlates the semantic data based on classifiers to generate aggregations of semantic data. Further, the system analyzes the aggregations of semantic data with a probabilistic engine to produce a corresponding plurality of derived events each of which includes a derived probability. The system generates a first derived event, including a first derived probability, that is generated based on a plurality of probabilities that respectively represent a confidence of an associated semantic datum to enable at least one application to perform a service based on the plurality of derived events.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to facilitating a meeting. A method for reducing an amount of communications to analyze in order to determine a cognitive state of an entity is provided. The method determines a first likelihood of an entity to have a particular cognitive state based on a set of physiological measures of the entity. The method receives communications from the entity. The method generates a graph of communications of the entity. The method performs a graphical text analysis on the graph to determine a second likelihood of the entity to have the particular cognitive state. The method determines whether the entity has the particular cognitive state based on the first likelihood and the second likelihood.

  • Patent number: 10417574
Abstract: Generating a computing specification to be executed by a quantum processor includes: accepting a problem specification that corresponds to a second-quantized representation of a fermionic Hamiltonian, and transforming the fermionic Hamiltonian into a first qubit Hamiltonian including a first set of qubits that encode a fermionic state specified by occupancy of spin orbitals. An occupancy of any spin orbital is encoded in a number of qubits that is logarithmic in the number of spin orbitals, and a parity for a transition between any two spin orbitals is encoded in a number of qubits that is logarithmic in the number of spin orbitals. An eigenspectrum of a second qubit Hamiltonian, including the first set of qubits and a second set of qubit, includes a low-energy subspace and a high-energy subspace, and an eigenspectrum of the first qubit Hamiltonian is approximated by a set of low-energy eigenvalues of the low-energy subspace.

  • Patent number: 10417575
Abstract: Resource allocation for machine learning is described such as for selecting between many possible options, for example, as part of an efficient training process for random decision tree training, for selecting which of many families of models best describes data, for selecting which of many features best classifies items. In various examples samples of information about uncertain options are used to score the options. In various examples, confidence intervals are calculated for the scores and used to select one or more of the options. In examples, the scores of the options may be bounded difference statistics which change little as any sample is omitted from the calculation of the score. In an example, random decision tree training is made more efficient while retaining accuracy for applications not limited to human body pose detection from depth images.
