Abstract: A system and method are provided which obtain a travel itinerary for a user, the itinerary identifying a trip, including a scheduled flight to a destination. A scheduled flight is monitored to detect when the scheduled flight arrives at the destination. Upon the scheduled flight arriving at an airport of the destination, one or more notifications are sent to a mobile computing device of the user. Information can be provided with the notifications for an on-demand ground transportation service. The information may include a location at the airport where the user can be picked up in connection with receiving the on-demand transportation service, and a timing indicator to indicate when the user should make a request to receive the on-demand transportation service based on a real-time determination of a number of available service providers in a vicinity of the airport.

Abstract: A method is provided for rebalancing vehicle collection/return stations, the method including the following steps: for each station, determining: a number of vehicles available at the station; an average waiting time at the station, and filtering the stations as a function of the parameters, the filtering providing: a first list, the departure station list, and a second list, the arrival station list, designing at least one vehicle movement operation as a function of the lists, and carrying out at least one vehicle movement operation.

Abstract: An order entry system communicates with the customer over a user interface and at the same time works with an automated installation system for installing network service. The order entry system prompts the customer to place a new service order. The service parameters of the new service order are passed to the installation system. The order entry system notifies the customer of the route and prompts the customer to add a service order for the route to the customer order. If the customer adds the service order to the customer order, the order entry system prompts the customer to reserve the service order or to submit an order for the service. If the customer reserves or submits an order for the service, the order entry system requests the installation system to design an actual communication line circuit to satisfy the order.

Abstract: In some locations, such as airports, drivers that provide passenger transport must wait a significant distance away from the pickup location. To reduce the delay between a passenger requesting a ride and being picked up, drivers are pre-dispatched before being assigned to specific passengers. The demand for a future time period is predicted and the number of drivers that should be pre-dispatched to meet that demand is estimated. The estimated number of drivers is sent pre-dispatch instruction indicating they should leave the waiting area and head towards the pickup location.

Abstract: Various embodiments are directed towards allocating costs for a plurality of cost objects. In at least one of the various embodiments, a source object and a target object in a data model may be determined such that an allocation rule is used to define one or more cost allocations where the costs flows from the source object to the target object. Allocation rules that are part of a recursive allocation rule may be executed on the source object and the target object until a terminal condition is met. The cost value that corresponds to the source object may be modified based on the allocation rule and the generated cost value. This process may continue until a terminal condition is met. After the terminal condition has been met final costs value corresponding to the target object and the source object may be generated and displayed.

Abstract: A risk exposure model is developed for network or moveable assets not specific to a single, fixed address or location. An asset map using a plurality of geographic representation points is used to identify the physical locations of the asset portions (or possible physical locations in the case of a moveable asset). Baseline geographic, geologic, political, and demographic data is similarly represented using geographic representation points. Meta-data associated with each geographic representation point is used to identify details related to the asset or baseline feature at that geographic location. Risk exposure values are then calculated using the geographic representation points specific to the asset portions that are subject to risks associated with the location of the asset portion.

Based on the influence model and an operation level of the actuator, a reserve value can be determined for the location. A risk value for the location can be determined using a risk metric that may use the reserve value, a current sensor value at the location, and a threshold sensor value at the location.

Additionally, a plurality of rules are generated for mapping each of the plurality of multi-service data elements to a plurality of service-specific data elements, the plurality of service-specific data elements being included in a disparate one or more of a plurality service-specific data models associated with one or more of a plurality of service-specific databases. Further, the plurality of rules are utilized for automatically importing data from at least some of the service-specific databases into the single multi-service data warehouse.

Abstract: A method and system for vetting items being shipped across national boundaries using a new technology enabling an automated system is provided. In particular, the automated system screens items for shipping through customs and validating the items for shipment according to customs rules and regulations. The system identifies and applies the appropriate rules for customs and other responsible agencies pertaining to the eligibility of any item being imported into a particular country. The present invention utilizes an unconventional combination of image recognition technology, machine learning algorithms, and rule engine algorithms to categorize, identify, and apply the appropriate rules to each and every item being considered for importation to another country.

Abstract: Wireless presence is used as a theft prevention mechanism for packages. When a package is shipped, the package includes a wireless security device. When the package is delivered to its final destination shipping address, the wireless security device is activated and programmed with a security credential. The security credential, though, is based on information obtained during an initial purchase. The wireless security device may thus only be deactivated by a recipient participating in the initial purchase.

Abstract: A device locating method includes broadcasting by a first mobile device a signal comprising an identifier associated with the first mobile device. A second mobile device receives and measures the signal broadcast by the first mobile device to produce one or more signal measurements. The second mobile device transmits the identifier associated with the first mobile device and the one or more signal measurements to a computing system. The computing system receives the identifier associated with the first mobile device and the one or more signal measurements from the second mobile device. The computing system estimates a location of the first mobile device based on the one or more signal measurements, and the location is transmitted to a user associated with the first mobile device. A traffic flow determination method, product ordering method and associated systems are also provided.

Abstract: Techniques for performing processing and providing notifications for potentially missing items of an order are described herein. Some implementations analyze data regarding previous orders to predict a level of risk that a current order will be delivered without an item. If an order is associated with a relatively high level of risk, a courier may be informed to check an order for an item when retrieving the order from the merchant. The courier may receive a notification to check the order when the courier arrives at the merchant's location.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with assortment and display space optimization are described. In one embodiment, a method creates an optimal planogram. The example method includes receiving data describing i) a set of items described by item dimensions, ii) display space dimensions; iii) business rules, and iv) a key performance indicator. A set of possible shelf positions is identified for each item. An expected sales volume is calculated for each item and shelf position pair based, at least in part, on a selected demand model. The method includes providing i) the expected sales volume for the item and shelf position pairs, ii) a set of constraints that embody the business rules, and iii) an objective function to an optimization problem solver that computes a solution. Based on the solution, a planogram is output that specifies the assortment of items and respective optimal shelf positions of the items.

Abstract: Techniques for determining a status of a system update with a long latency may be provided. For example, the system may receive a request to update a value associated with an item offered by a merchant. The new value may be transmitted to one or more other computer systems, so that the new value can be updated in a master data store maintained by the one or more other computer systems. The new value can also be stored in a temporary data store associated with the system and the merchant may be informed that the new value was received and is being updated.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for real-time analysis of wellsite inventory activity is described. The method includes logging receipt of inventory items at a wellsite and tracking their use. In certain embodiments, the inventory may be chemical sacks mixed into drilling fluids, and their use may be tracked with an RFID scanner near the threshold of a mixing hopper. The tracking information may be used to update an inventory management database. When an item is used, real-time wellsite data may be analyzed to determine its impact on drilling performance. The efficacy of the item may thereby be determined and stored in a predictive model database. In making future wellsite drilling decisions, the predictive model database may be used to select cost-efficient performance improvement solutions. Additionally, performance information may be used to correct real-time data measured during future uses of the inventory item.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software are disclosed herein for implementing enhanced search environments. In one implementation, an enhanced service environment includes a working set service that receives event signals initiated by working set agents in various application services. The working set agents communicate the event signals to nominate events occurring in the application services for inclusion in a working set of information specific to a user. The nominations may be based at least in part on a working set model specific to the user. In response to receiving the event signals, the working set service determines which of the events qualify for inclusion in the working set of information based at least in part on the working set model. For each event that qualifies for inclusion, the working set is modified to include at least the event.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes selecting a set of logged user-initiated events of a user. The method further includes determining timing information, device-identification information, and user-location information for the set of logged user-initiated events. In addition, the method includes correlating the set of logged user-initiated events to recurring time intervals of a time map. Also, the method includes determining an overall density, a location-specific density, and a device-specific density of the set of logged user-initiated events for at least some recurring time intervals of the time map. Furthermore, the method includes generating a time-based activity pattern of the user, the time-based activity pattern comprising, for the at least some recurring time intervals of the time map, information related to the overall density, the location-specific density, and the device-specific density. In addition, the method includes publishing the time-based activity pattern to a scheduling interface.

Abstract: A method of providing a recommendation for optimizing operations of a set of industrial assets is disclosed. Digital twins of the set of industrial assets are generated. The digital twins include data structures representing states of each of a plurality of subsystems of the set of industrial assets over a time period. The states are estimated based on an application of simulations using cumulative damage models. The cumulative damage models model the effects of exogenous factors on the operation of the set of industrial assets over the time period. The digital twins are analyzed with respect to simulated operating performances to determine an optimized control of operations of the industrial assets. The optimized control of operations is calculated to jointly and severally to increase the specified operating performance criteria in time present and future of the industrial assets or decrease an economic risk associated with the operation of the industrial assets, within a specified probability.

In various embodiments, the present technology includes systems and methods for identifying and evaluating an electronic device to facilitate processing (e.g., purchasing) the device. Systems and methods for retrieving funds from an online/virtual account are also provided. In some embodiments, a user is able to initiate a funds transfer from an online/virtual account which are to be received in the form of cash at a money transfer service location.

Abstract: An alias management and value transfer claim processing system is disclosed. A sending entity initiates value transfer identifying a recipient entity using an alias that is unregistered with the system. The value transfer is authorized, but not settled until the recipient entity registers with the system and claims the value transfer. The registered alias can be used for subsequent value transfers.

Abstract: A mobile terminal receives a user instruction for performing facial recognition to a picture displayed on the mobile terminal and highlights each human face in the picture by a corresponding face identifying object. After receiving a user selection of two or more face identifying objects and a user-inputted target attribute value for each face identifying object, the mobile terminal generates an attribute value transfer request according to the user-inputted target attribute values, facial recognition information associated with the face identifying objects, and a first user identifier associated with the mobile terminal and sends the attribute value transfer request to a remote server. The server determines a second user identifier based on the facial recognition information associated with each face identifying object and transfers a corresponding target attribute value between the first and second user identifiers when the second user identifier is on a user-relationship chain of the first user identifier.

The system receives a set of historical invoice matching data that includes invoices classified by the invoice matching engine and resolution actions initiated by the invoice matching engine. The system further calculates a current overall cost associated with the invoice matching engine initiating resolution actions based on current invoice matching tolerance parameters, current invoice matching action parameters, fixed factor parameters, and historical factor parameters. The system further calculates alternate overall costs associated with the invoice matching engine initiating resolution actions based on alternate invoice matching tolerance parameters. The system further determines optimal invoice matching tolerance parameters based on comparing the current overall cost with the alternate overall costs.

Whether a particular threshold for each of the offline approved transactions and/or time-out reversals has been reached may be subsequently determined. Once a particular threshold has been reached, an electronic alert indicating a store-wide or a local POS issue may be transmitted to an appropriate internal or external entity. The electronic alert may include information specific to the type of issue as well as specifics about the store and POS terminal encountering the issue.

The payment terminal may determine whether the payment card is a chip card and generate a swipe mode processing indicator. The swipe mode indicator may allow processing of electronic payment information using procedures for the swipe payment type. Abstract: A contactless payment device and method streams a sequence of magnetic-field pulses directly to two magnetic-stripe read heads of a point-of-sale terminal. The stream of pulses includes essential information needed to approve a transaction. The essential information is structured for a primary “channel” associated with one of the read heads. A series of “proxy” bits are included in the stream in order to satisfy the data collection requirements for a secondary channel associated with the other read head. The proxy bits are included in a custom bit stream that may be used to improve acceptance of payment transmission data at a POS terminal.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for activating a function of an account card based on physical devices interactions such as a motion pattern detected by the account card. In some embodiments, the account card may include one or more sensors and processing capabilities sufficient to store a motion pattern, detect a motion pattern representing movement of the account card, compare the detected motion pattern to the stored motion pattern, and activate one or more functions of the account card based on the comparison. In some embodiments, the one or more functions may relate to account information communication, such as writing a magnetic stripe, unblocking a magnetic stripe, activating a near field communication chip, displaying an account number, providing power to an antenna, or otherwise enabling communication of the account number based on the capabilities of the card.
