  • Patent number: 10416123
Abstract: A method of adjusting flaw detection sensitivity on an array ultrasonic probe comprises disposing a plate material P1 oppositely to the ultrasonic probe such that an upper surface of the plate material is disposed to be approximately parallel to an array direction of the transducers 11, or disposing a tubular material P2 oppositely to the ultrasonic probe such that an axial direction of the tubular material is disposed to be approximately parallel to the array direction of the transducers. Ultrasonic waves are transmitted from each transducer toward the upper surface of the plate material or an outer surface of the tubular material, and echoes are received from the bottom surface of the plate material or an inner surface of the tubular material on each transducer. Flaw detection sensitivity of each transducer is adjusted to substantially equalize intensity of an echo received on each transducer.

  • Patent number: 10416126
Abstract: A “periodic signal parameter” (PSP) indicates periodic patterns in an autocorrelated vibration waveform and potential faults in a monitored machine. The PSP is calculated based on statistical measures derived from an autocorrelation waveform and characteristics of an associated vibration waveform. The PSP provides an indication of periodicity and a generalization of potential fault, whereas characteristics of the associated waveform indicate severity. A “periodic information plot” (PIP) is derived from a vibration signal processed using two analysis techniques to produce two X-Y graphs of the signal data that share a common X-axis. The PIP is created by correlating the Y-values on the two graphs based on the corresponding X-value. The amplitudes of Y-values in the PIP is derived from the two source graphs by multiplication, taking a ratio, averaging, or keeping the maximum value.

  • Patent number: 10416133
Abstract: A chromatographic data processing device, data processing method, and chromatographic analysis system. When chromatographic analysis is performed, the data processing device obtains 3D data for time, wavelength, and strength from the PDA, and finds the assay value for the target component in the liquid sample by processing said data. If the peak top strength of the target component falls outside of the dynamic range, a dilution ratio for the liquid sample is determined by calculating the peak top strength of the target component using the ratio of the strength at the peak top wavelength on the spectrum for each point in time belonging to the peak to the strength of a separate wavelength.

  • Patent number: 10416134
Abstract: The EM algorithm for a Gaussian mixture model is applied to the separation of peaks that overlap one another on a chromatogram. However, the number of overlapping components is unknown. Thus, a suitable number of models is set, and the fitting of model parameters is performed while an actually measured signal is appropriately divided for each model by the EM algorithm. Then, when a solution converges, a determination is made as to whether a peak-like waveform is present in a residue signal that is not divided. When the peak-like waveform is present, a peak model is added. The EM algorithm is executed again. In the M step, optimization is performed using, not only a simple Gaussian function, but also a modified Gaussian function assuming a tailing. In the M step, the estimation of a spectrum assuming a chromatogram and the estimation of a chromatogram assuming a spectrum are repeatedly performed.

  • Patent number: 10416138
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for generating a mixture of olfactory compounds to diffuse based on a flavor signature delta measured between samples prepared according to a recipe. An application obtains a flavor signature for a canonical sample prepared according to the recipe and a flavor signature for a sample subsequently prepared according to the recipe. The application generates a flavor signature delta from the flavor signatures of the samples. The flavor signature delta indicates a difference in the measure of each of the olfactory compounds in the samples. The application identifies a mixture of olfactory compounds in the flavor signature delta based on the difference. The application then directs an aroma diffusing device to diffuse the identified mixture of olfactory compounds.

  • Patent number: 10416156
Abstract: A problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an immunochromatographic test strip and a detection method using immunochromatography avoiding aggregation of colloidal gold conjugates while red blood cells in whole blood are agglutinated and then separated and removed in the case of using polybrene as a blood-agglutinating agent and the colloidal gold conjugates as a detection reagent. To solve the problem, the present inventers reviewed a past reagent configuration itself from a completely different viewpoint rather than selecting type and amount of polyanions and, as a result of extensive study on each element, the inventers surprisingly found that aggregation of colloidal gold can be suppressed by using a certain buffer solution without using neutralization by polyanions.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to determining the risk of developing breast cancer. In particular, the present disclosure provides materials and methods for determining whether a subject diagnosed with a non-cancerous breast tumor will develop cancer based on expression of multiple oncogenic biomarkers in the non-cancerous breast tumor. The present disclosure also provides a cancer risk score to determine whether a subject has low risk, intermediate risk, or high risk of developing cancer, thereby permitting selection of appropriate therapies to treat the subject. The present disclosure addresses the need for improved diagnostic assessment of early hyperplastic lesions, the presence of which in a subject is a significant indicator that a subject will eventually develop invasive breast cancer.

  • Patent number: 10416172
Abstract: The present invention relates to an isolated naturally-occurring soluble truncated IL-23R? protein, which is a translated protein resulting from a mRNA splice variant of IL-23R?. The soluble IL-23R? proteins (e.g., ?9 and ?8,9) represents a novel soluble IL-23R? protein, which is lacking a transmembrane domain and has a unique eight (8) amino acids (GLKEGSYC) at its C-terminus end (due to frame-shift). ELISA reveals that ?9 is present in blood and can serve as a diagnostic tool for auto-immune diseases including Crohn's disease. There is also provided a method of recombinant production for this soluble truncated form of IL-23R? protein. More importantly, the present invention provides an utility application of the ?9 and ?8,9 protein in inhibit IL-23R-mediated cell signaling. More particularly, ?9 and ?8,9 blocks STAT3 formation as well as Th17 maturation. There is provided a therapeutic application of ?9 and ?8,9 in treating a human patient inflicted with Crohn's disease.
