  • Patent number: 10440941
Abstract: A reusable rock holder for use as a fishing sinker is disclosed. According to embodiments of the disclosure, instead of using a conventional fishing sinker in a fishing rig, the reusable rock holder can secure a rock or other object for use as a sinker. The reusable rock holder can secure rocks or objects having different or irregular shapes and/or sizes corresponding to materials naturally occurring in the environment. Furthermore, the reusable rock holder can release the rock or other object when snagged, allowing the fisherman to retrieve the rock holder and the rest of the fishing rig. The fisherman can then simply find another rock, secure it in the rock holder, and resume fishing. The availability of rocks at the fishing location can provide a zero-cost source of eco-friendly sinkers.

Abstract: A harmonica-style goose call is described. A user assumes a blow position and by blowing through a blow space onto a diaphragm which vibrates and emits a tone. The blow space is made from interior profiles of varying depth on engaged housings. This permits the user to alter the pitch of the tone by selectively altering the blow position. In this way, the user can imitate the sound of a goose by altering the blowing three and the blow position.

Abstract: Methods for increasing the yield of almond trees by the application of certain plant growth regulators are disclosed. In one embodiment, a brassinosteroid is applied to a variety of the species Prunus dulcis in the growth stage two weeks after full bloom. In another embodiment, the almond trees are treated at the time of petal fall with a brassinosteroid during the formation the ovaries and nutlets. Non-brassinosteroid plant growth regulators such as Forchlorfenuron and Gibberellic acid may be applied with a brassinosteroid to further promote growth. The inventors hypothesize that changes in reproductive physiology such as increasing pollen tube growth and pollen germination rates that ultimately result in greater crop yield are promoted by applications of brassinosteroids.

Abstract: An adhesive used in underground applications where vegetation is present wherein the adhesive has been doped with a material or materials that deter the growth properties of adjacent vegetation. The materials can include Zinc, Copper Sulfate, Copper Oxide, as well as sulfates of Zinc, Manganese, and Nickel, in quantities that will repel or deter the advancement of roots and invasive vegetation into fittings and joints in an underground system. The adhesive is used to bond a conduit and a fitting in an air-tight and water tight seal, and the inclusion of the root deterrent material resists invasion of nearby roots into the piping. The root deterring supplements to the adhesive to not degrade the performance of the adhesive and actually repel roots in the vicinity of the materials.
