A tunable lens can be mounted to the housing to apply a variable focal power to the light from the eye and to pass the light along an optical path toward a wavefront sensor within the housing. The wavefront sensor can receive the light via the optical path and measure a wavefront thereof. A determination module can be configured to determine a property of the eye based on the wavefront. Embodiments can be handheld, portable, and open view, while providing objective wavefront aberrometry, subjective phoroptry, and accommodation and presbyoptic evaluation, as well as lensometry functions.

Abstract: A reconfigurable implantable system for ultrasonic power control and telemetry includes a charging device that includes an ultrasonic transducer to transmit and receive ultrasonic signals transmitted through a biological body, and a signal generator to drive the ultrasonic transducer to transmit an ultrasonic charging signal through the biological body. The system further includes an implantable device configured to communicate wirelessly with the charging device through the biological body via an ultrasonic communication link between the implantable device and the charging device. An implantable ultrasonic transducer receives the ultrasonic charging signal from the charging device and transmits ultrasonic signals through the biological body. A power unit coupled to the ultrasonic transducer harvests energy from the received ultrasonic charging signal when the implantable device is in an energy harvesting mode.

Abstract: A non-invasive optical detection system and method are provided. Sample light is delivered into a target volume of interest, whereby the sample light is scattered by the target volume of interest, resulting in a sample light pattern that exits the anatomical structure. Reference light is combined with the sample light pattern to generate at least one interference light pattern, each of which may have a time varying interference component that integrates to a first value in the absence of the physiological event, and that integrates to a second greater value in the presence of the physiological event. Intensities of spatial components of each interference light pattern are detected during a measurement period. A function of the detected spatial component intensities of the interference light pattern(s) is analyzed, and a presence of the physiological event in the target volume of interest is determined based on the analysis.
