  • Patent number: 10470360
Abstract: A disc opener unit for an agricultural implement has a down pressure adjustment device that automatically adjusts the amount of down pressure applied on a furrowing disc based on strain measurements taken by a strain gauge or load cell. The strain gauge, which may be mounted to an arm that is used to set the position of a depth setting gauge wheel, provides feedback to a processor that in turn controls the amount of hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic cylinder to adjust the down force applied on the disc. The amount of down pressure is therefore adjusted in substantially real-time in response to changes in field conditions, which improves furrow depth consistency and reduces wear on the gauge wheel and its components.

  • Patent number: 10470361
Abstract: A device for spreading active agents comprising: a boom, which is arranged pivotably about a rotation axis; a sensor arrangement for the detection of an angular velocity of the boom about the rotation axis; a sensor for the detection of an angular position of the boom; a control unit processing output signals from the sensor; and an actuator, acting on the present angular position of the boom based on control signals from the control unit. For the determination of an angular position of the boom, the control unit calculates an angular position of the boom in relation to a reference plane by integration of the angular velocity and merges the angular position calculated by means of the angular velocity, with the detected angular position to determine the present angular position of the boom to return the boom to a desired angular position.

  • Patent number: 10470372
Abstract: A suspension mechanism for a rotary rake implement incorporates elastomeric shock absorbing members in the corners of a tubular member situated in between the corners of a square rod formed as part of the wheel assembly and received within the tubular member such that the corners of the square rod assert a pre-load spring force on the tubular member when the implement is in an extended operating configuration. The movement of the implement into a folded transport configuration with the weight of the implement supported on the transport wheel assemblies causes a deflection of the square rod that compresses the elastomeric shock absorbing members within the corners of the tubular member to provide maximum suspension for the implement when in transport, while providing minimum suspension when the implement is in operation. An end cap on the square rod engages a stop formed on the tubular member to control rotation.

  • Patent number: 10470382
Abstract: A machine for debranching living trees can move up and down the tree autonomously via a drive mechanism and has an upper cutting unit including three blades and below it a lower cutting unit including two blades. The in total five blades are arranged so that they cover the full girth of the tree. The two blades in the lower cutting unit are horizontally offset so that their end portions can overlap. To move the machine along the tree trunk there are two belt drives which press against the tree and are both driven by a single hydraulic motor. The upper cutting unit with its three blades can move horizontally as a whole, so that when the machine is moved and encounters thicker or slightly bent parts of the tree trunk it can give way in order to prevent the bark from being damaged by the blades.

  • Patent number: 10470399
Abstract: A canola germplasm confers on a canola seed the traits of high protein content and low fiber content, wherein the canola plant produces a seed having, on average, at least 68% oleic acid (C18:1) and less than 3% linolenic acid (C18:3). The canola seed traits may also include at least 45% crude protein and not more than 18% acid detergent fiber content on an oil-free, dry matter basis. Certain embodiments further comprise one or more traits selected from the group consisting of reduced polyphenolic content and increased phosphorous content. In particular embodiments, the invention concerns canola plants comprising such germplasm and plant commodity products (e.g., seeds) produced therefrom. Canola plants comprising a germplasm of the invention may exhibit favorable seed composition characteristics that make them particularly valuable as a source for canola meal.
