Abstract: Disclosed is a buckle for an animal collar and/or leash that is easy to open and close, but at the same time does not open without user intervention. Illustratively, the inventive apparatus comprises a buckle that includes a first clasp member and a second clasp member that form a clasp. Pressure is applied and maintained at the second clasp member to transition the clasp from a closed position to an open position, wherein the second clasp member rotates around a hinge. As the buckle is easy to open and close, the user can conveniently attach the collar or leash to the animal and remove the collar or leash from the animal when it is no longer needed, thus preventing irritation of the animal and build-up of dirt and/or odors. The single-handed operation allows the user to attach and remove the collar or leash efficiently and with minimal effort.

  • Publication number: 20190343094
Abstract: Provided is a method for preparing a PD-1 gene-modified humanized animal model. The method utilizes the CRIPSR/Cas9 technique to replace partial fragments of a mouse PD-1 gene with fragments of a human PD-1 gene using homologous recombination by constructing a targeting vector, thereby preparing a gene-modified humanized mouse. This mouse can normally express a PD-1 protein containing the functional domain of the human PD-1 protein, and can be used as an animal model for mechanism research regarding PD-1, PD-L1 and other signals, for screening regulators, and for toxicological research. The method has an important and high application value in studies on functions of the PD-1 gene and in the development of new drugs.

Abstract: A tungsten rattle head used on fishing lures is used to attract and catch more fish. The present invention increases fishing performance by reducing bulk, eliminating protrusions, and reducing impediments while achieving a louder sound chamber. There are no rattling fishing lures that take advantage of placing one or more rattle elements in a tungsten body. Using a hollow chamber in a tungsten body allows one or more rattling elements to be added while keeping the size of the lure head small and more appealing to fish. The rattle elements click or rattle to attract fish to the bait during the cast and retrieve. By placing the rattle inside the head, there are no protrusions or impediments resulting in increased fish catching ability.

Abstract: Strains of Chromobacterium sphagni sp. nov. are described which have insecticidal activity against insect larvae, in general, and lepidopteran insect larvae, in particular. A biocontrol agent containing one or more C. sphagni, media in which the C. sphagni, or both, and optionally a carrier are also described. Methods of killing insect larvae and methods of reducing insect populations in an area by applying to the area or an object an effective amount of the biocontrol agent are also described.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a formula or composition for use in reducing a honey bee parasitic mite infestation that may comprise, for example, a liquid, solid, or paste composition, comprising about 5-20% beta acids (about 5-75% by weight), about 5-75% by weight propylene glycol, about 5-75% by weight polysorbate 60, about 0.5- 35% of a thixotropic material, such as fumed silica, and/or about 0.5-5% pf an antioxidant, such as ascorbic acid, the composition is active against parasitic mites for more than about 14 days in the bee hives. Compositions of the present invention provide effective control, treatment, or prevention of honey bee parasitic mite infestation by inclusion of, for example, certain excipients that retard beta acid oxidation, prolong availability of active ingredient for bee uptake, improve convenience for beekeepers, or both retard beta acid oxidation and prolong the availability of active ingredient for bee uptake.
