Abstract: Described herein is a method of controlling soil moisture, water accumulation and fertilizer distribution in land. Elevation location data for land areas are extracted from two or more pixels of a topographic image including topographic data. Each pixel represents a land area. Wetness indices for the land areas are determined from the elevation and location data, based on the slope between two or more defined areas of land and an upslope contributing area per unit contour length. At risk defined areas of land, e.g., those at risk of accumulating water are identified based on wetness indices. Water is transported from the at risk defined areas of land to another location. The transporting of water reduces the risk of accumulating water in the at risk defined areas of land and improves crop growth potential in those areas.

Abstract: A manufacturing apparatus is an apparatus for manufacturing a water absorption treatment material that is composed of a plurality of grains, and includes a granulation machine and a coating machine. The granulation machine granulates a granulation material and thereby forms a granule (core portion) that constitutes each of the grains The coating machine attaches a coating material that contains an adhesive material to a surface of the core portion formed by the granulation machine, and thereby forms a coating portion that covers the surface of the core portion. The granulation machine forms the core portion that has a through hole that extends through the core portion.

Abstract: A method of making an extruded granular absorbent is provided where the method includes providing an extruder and a starch-containing admixture, and pressurizing the starch containing admixture in the extruder under relatively high extrusion pressures to extrude the pressurized starch-containing admixture from the extruder, and producing a water absorbent and oil absorbent extrudate. The present invention further provides that the extruded granular absorbent may be combined with a non-extruded granular material with relatively high inert or cellulose content where there may be a greater proportion of extruded granular absorbent, and the extruded granular absorbent and non-extruded granular material agglutinate into a clump when wetted with water or urine.

Abstract: A method and drinking apparatus provide fresh water to a living entity confined into a restricted environment, includes a first element having opposite ends. A second element defines a capacity provided with first and second openings. The first opening is at an upper part of the second element. The first and second elements are secured at opposite ends. A third element has an upper first opening and a second opening. The third element is secured to opposite ends of the first element. Tubing has one end fluidly communicating with the second opening of the second element and an opposite end fluidly communicates with the second opening of the third element. The third element is higher than the second element so water poured in the third element flows by gravity within the second element. The first element is sufficiently rigid to prevent deformation by the fresh water.
