This actuation mechanism introduces a wider bandwidth in the sense-mode frequency response curve, and consequently enhances robustness to parameter fluctuations due to operating conditions and fabrication imperfections. The vibratory modes of the device are designed to have distinct frequencies where the drive-mode natural frequency is twice the modal frequency of the sense mode. The nonlinear modal interaction due to internal resonance can also be magnified through nonlinearity feedback. The sense mode response can be enhanced in shape, quality factor, and bandwidth by feeding back nonlinear quadratic, cubic, etc. terms.

Abstract: Systems and methods for calibrating odometry of a materials handling vehicle. One embodiment of a method includes determining a current location of the materials handling vehicle, determining an odometry distance from the current location to a destination based on a calculation of a determined number of rotations of a wheel and a circumference of the wheel, and determining a positioning system distance from the current location to the destination. Some embodiments include comparing the odometry distance with data from the positioning system distance to calculate a scaling factor, applying the scaling factor to a fast alpha filter to achieve a fast filter result, and applying the scaling factor to a slow alpha filter to achieve a slow filter result. Similarly, some embodiments include applying the fast alpha filter to the scaling factor to smooth noise, calculating an updated odometry distance utilizing the scaling factor, and utilizing the updated odometry distance.

Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can generate navigation instructions based on map data that defines the relationships between map features within a venue. For example, a relationship can define constraints that may affect the route generated between map features. The constraints can include directional constraints, time-based constraints, and/or security-based constraints on the user's ability to move between the related map features for which a relationship is defined. A relationship can define one or more intermediary map features through which a user will have to navigate in order to move between map features. The intermediary map feature(s) may have characteristics or constraints that may determine whether a user can be routed through the associated map features. The route generated by the computing device can be based on the relationship definitions generated for map features between a starting location and an ending location associated with the venue.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described ensuring that a user will be able to consume selected media content in its entirety. In particular, a media guidance application described herein determines an amount of time (102) required to reach a destination (116) and compares this time to an amount of time required to consume media content (104). If the amount of time (104) exceeds the amount of time (102) required to reach the destination, it calculates a route (120) for a current trip in which the length of time required to traverse a calculated route corresponds to the play length of the selected media asset.

Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device evaluates map data used by a mapping application to determine whether the map data represents a current road. The computing device gets probe data from mobile devices including probe points representing location and compares probe data against the stored map data (e.g., for the road segment corresponding to the probe points). A vector field is generated across the probe points and road segment to induce directionality. The computing device calculates a normal distance from probe points to the road segment. The computing device calculates map accuracy values from the comparison and normal distance. The values include a vector shift and a cosine similarity value between the stored road segment and the actual road. In some implementations the values are used to conform the map data to the actual road. Road segment data is updated to reflect probe data.
