  • Patent number: 10533796
Abstract: A method for thickening a cryogenic slurry is disclosed. The method comprises providing a cryogenic slurry flow path, a cryogenic liquid discharge path, and a filter medium between the cryogenic slurry flow path and the cryogenic liquid discharge path. The cryogenic slurry comprises a solid and a cryogenic liquid. The cryogenic slurry is fed into the cryogenic slurry flow path, generally tangential to the filter medium. This causes a portion of the cryogenic liquid to cross the filter medium into the cryogenic liquid discharge path as a cryogenic liquid discharge and the cryogenic slurry to thicken to produce a thickened slurry. The filter medium comprises a cryogenically-stable material such that adsorption of gases is inhibited, deposition of solids is prevented, and temperature-change induced expansion and contraction of the filter medium is optimized.

  • Patent number: 10533802
Abstract: Many substantially identical refractory bricks are assembled into completed horizontal ring rows neatly nested into laterally curved copper stave coolers surrounding the ring. Each brick “locks” into horizontal channels between pairs of parallel horizontal protruding ribs on the hot faces of the stave coolers. Every stave cooler is provisioned with a full covering of the refractory bricks after the stave cooler is mounted inside a corresponding steel containment shell. None of the refractory bricks are permitted to be finished bridging between adjacent stave coolers in the same horizontal row. Each brick is installed in their respective stave coolers with crushable or deformable mortar filling the channels. Each brick hooks a “toe” just under and into an upper of the pair of horizontal ribs, and then rotates in down with favorably oriented and directed earth's gravity to stay in place at least until a next upper row of bricks in a superior horizontal ring “lock” them in a second way.

  • Patent number: 10533809
Abstract: Illustrative embodiments disclosed herein pertain to a cooling apparatus that includes a distributor plate and a conduit assembly. The conduit assembly allows a cooling fluid to flow downwards through a first set of holes in the distributor plate and onto a hot object placed below the distributor plate. The cooling fluid then flows upwards from the hot object into a second set of holes in the distributor plate. The first set of holes are shaped to offer a pressure increase to the cooling fluid flowing towards the hot object. The second set of holes are shaped to offer reduced resistance to the cooling fluid flowing away from the hot object. The distributor plate and the conduit assembly are fabricated from a material that is a heat insulator thereby preventing heat transfer from the cooling fluid flowing away from the hot object to the cooling fluid flowing towards the hot object.

Inner and outer concentric chambers (25, 29) surround the conduit and a forward portion of the barrel (3). A gas path (P2, P3, P4) is provided through sides of the conduit into the inner chamber, thence to the outer chamber, and then exits to the atmosphere at the front of the outer chamber. Each chamber has longitudinal lines of sight between front and back sound reflectors (R1-R2, R3-R4), and no longitudinal line of sight from the back reflector (R2, R4) to the atmosphere. The gas path through the suppressor is at least 6 times less flow-restrictive than the gas path through the bullet exit (17) or back into the barrel bore (4), minimizing backpressure. The gas path (P3) between the inner and outer chambers is through apertures (33) limited to a lengthwise middle portion of an inner shell (21) that divides the chambers (25, 29).

  • Patent number: 10533820
Abstract: A concentric rifle barrel assembly includes an outer sleeve having a plurality of threads along the first and second ends, an elongated rifle barrel, and a locking nut. The first end of the rifle barrel is removably positioned within the sleeve and includes a chamber that is sized to receive a firearm cartridge. Threads on the locking nut engage the second end of the sleeve, and a positioning ring that is located a first distance from the first end of the rifle barrel. The first distance being complementary to the length of the sleeve minus the length of the rim of the firearm cartridge for which the barrel is designed to accommodate. Fluting is provided along one or both of the rifle barrel and the sleeve, and the sleeve is designed to receive any number of different rifle barrels each sized to accommodate cartridges of different sizes and calibers.

  • Patent number: 10533821
Abstract: A toy launcher for toy projectiles includes a drum having two concentric rings of holders with an angular offset between adjacent concentric rings, and motorized flywheels to launch the projectiles. The launcher also includes an assembly for pushing projectiles in the drum toward the flywheels for launch, including a separate pushing rod for each of the concentric rings to advance one projectile at a time toward the flywheels. Both pushing rods are simultaneously pushed when a trigger is pressed, but only one projectile at a time is launched because while one pushing rod advances a projectile, the other pushing rod is blocked by a structure on the drum. Successive presses of the trigger cause projectiles to be launched in an alternating sequence in which one projectile at a time is launched first from a first concentric ring, then from a second concentric ring, then from the first concentric ring.

Abstract: A network of scopes, including one or more lead scopes and one or more follower scopes, is provided to allow the respective scopes to track the same presumed target. A lead scope locates a target and communicates target position data of the presumed target to the follower scope. The follower scope uses the target position data and its own position data to generate electronic control signals for use by follower scope to make position movements so as to re-position the follower scope from its current target position to move towards the target position defined by the target position data received from the lead scope. At least the second scope is mounted to, or integrated into, a vehicle, which uses the target position data to move to a new location so as to allow the second scope to better view the target.

  • Patent number: 10533827
Abstract: This invention concerns a device for the transmission of impulse and momentum, e.g. from a shock wave from an explosion or momentum from objects impacting the device, from one location to another, and is primarily used to protect vehicles, ships, aircrafts and buildings against impulse and/or momentum, for instance in regards to attacks on those with grenades, bombs, mines and the like. The governing physical principles are those of conservation of momentum and energy, and Newton's 3rd Law, claiming that for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. When the receiver 1 is accelerated by the incoming shock wave 9 it collides with the transmitter 2, connected to an emitter 3, momentum is transferred to the emitter 3. If the transfer is in itself not sufficient to bring the receiver's 1 velocity to an acceptable level, additional energy and momentum is added through the transmitter 2.
