Abstract: A livestock force tub features a perimeter structure delimiting an interior space of said livestock tub, including a main peripheral wall spanning circumferentially around a central upright axis, an exit situated at or proximate a terminal end of the main peripheral wall and a supplemental wall section at an area adjacent the exit on a side thereof opposite the terminal end of the main peripheral wall. The supplemental wall section increases an angular span of the tub around the central axis to create an auxiliary space beyond the exit. This auxiliary space accommodates a possible uncooperative animal during unloading of the force tub while allowing others to still reach the exit. The supplemental wall section and a terminal section of the main peripheral wall have a lesser opacity than more significantly cladded areas of the main peripheral wall, whereby increased light admission and environmental visibility attract livestock toward the exit.

A panel is coupled to the tube and the panel is folded onto itself to define a pouch for storing fishing tackle. In this way the fishing tackle is stored on the wrist during fishing for easy access to the fishing tackle.

Abstract: A system for securing items such as fishing hooks is disclosed. The system may include an elastomeric material having a slit formed therein. The elastomeric material may be compressed across the slit in order to reduce the width of the slit. A substrate with extensions may hold the elastomeric material in this compressed state. While the elastomeric material is held in the compressed state, an item such as a fishing hook may be inserted into the slit. The compression may enable the slit to securely grip the item.

Abstract: A protective storage tube convertible to tripod fishing rod holder having a strike indicator arm with a slidable trigger is disclosed that has multiple differing ways to establish a select fish strike tension among potential variable fish strike tensions. The protective storage tube has an elongated tubular body which provides an internal hollowed area capable of receiving a fishing rod therein during storage or transport of the protective storage tube. A slidable ring surrounds an external surface of the tubular body and has several externally facing notches and a lock cavity for an elastic cord. Two notches pivotally house an end of a pair of legs which when extended forms a tripod stand with the tubular body. A third ring notch houses a proximal end of a strike indicator arm. The strike indicator arm has slidable trigger that includes an upwardly extending finger hook for releasable engagement with one of a plurality of fishing line guide eyelets of a fishing rod.

Abstract: This composition can be easily added when cryopreserving cells and improves cell viability. 1 volume % of the composition containing 0.01 wt % to 20 wt % of a sophorose lipid is added just before or up to 6 hours before cryopreservation and cells are stored. This composition can improve cryopreservation cell viability as it reduces freezing damage to cells. With this composition, cells can be stored without using DMSO and blood serum. This is a simple and inexpensive storage method as it does not require fine control of the freezing rate during cell cryopreservation.

Abstract: Apparatus are provided for preventing the formation of ice crystals in a biological sample containing a non-Newtonian fluid as a cryopreservation medium. The apparatus may be used to prevent ice formation during cryopreservation of biological samples, or during warming of cryopreserved biological samples, by changing the viscosity of the non-Newtonian fluid. The apparatus (200) comprises a housing (202) for a container (212) containing the biological sample (214) and the non-Newtonian fluid, and a device (204) for inducing a change in viscosity of the cryopreservation medium. The change in viscosity may be increased by inducing shear thickening of the cryopreservation medium, or the change in viscosity may be decreased by inducing shear thinning of the cryopreservation medium. Possible viscosity-changing devices comprise a tapping device, a piston, a rotating device, a compression device, a sound generating device, a permanent magnet or a electromagnetic field generating device.
