Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide devices and systems to monitor fullness of a patient's bladder. One embodiment of a bladder fullness (BF) measure system comprises a sensor device (SD) and a controller. The SD generates an output signal (OS) based on the force exerted by the bladder against SD the wherein the OS corresponds to a degree of BF. The SD may be attached to the bladder wall or adjoining tissue and positioned between the bladder and the pubic bone such that the SD is not affected by tissues force other than that from the bladder. The controller connects to the SD and causes an associated implant to perform a function when the SD output signal exceeds a predetermined threshold. Embodiments are particularly useful for providing information on BF to patients suffering from spinal injury or other conditions whereby they have lost the ability to sense BF and/or voluntarily urinate.

Abstract: A storage unit 2 arranged on a foot side of a subject placed on a top board is provided with a box composed of a block member 22 and a plate member 23 and a lid 21 covering an upper side of the box. The lid 21 is provided so as to be capable of pivoting about a shaft 20 relative to the plate member 23 of the box composed of the block member 22 and the plate member 23. When the lid 21 is in a closed state, the upper portion of the plate member 23 of the box composed of the block member 22 and the plate member 23 is covered by the lid 21. In this state, as shown in FIG. 2, the upper surface of the lid 21 and the surface of the top board of the storage unit 2 are arranged at the same height, and are thus coplanar.

Abstract: In the field of radioimmunoguided surgical system instrumentation there is described and claimed a hand-held probe with a disposable power source as well as a visually perceptible indicator of detected counts of radiation. Also disclosed is a system comprising the hand-held probe and an instrumentation console. The handle includes a probe link that transmits a message containing gamma data relating to the low-level electrical signal. The instrumentation console may include a housing, a console link to receive the message transmitted by the probe link, a receiver electrically coupled to the console link to convert the message to corresponding electrical display signals, and a visually perceivable display electrically coupled to the receiver to convert the electrical display signals to a visually perceivable display relating to the amount of radiation detected.

Abstract: Among other things, an anti-scatter collimator is provided including a first layer defining a first retaining member at a first surface. A second layer defines a second retaining member at a first surface that faces the first surface of the first layer. A septum is disposed between the first layer and the second layer and physically contacts the first retaining member and the second retaining member. The first retaining member and the second retaining member maintain a position of the septum relative to the first layer and the second layer. The septum has a third attenuation coefficient that is greater than a first attenuation coefficient of the first layer and a second attenuation coefficient of the second layer. An end support is attached to the first layer and to the second layer. The end support borders an end of the septum.

Abstract: Synchronizing operation between a digital radiographic detector's integration periods and an x-ray generator's x-ray pulse rate by transmitting a frame rate to the detector and the generator. In a first mode, the detector monitors one or more pixels to detect an x-ray pulse. The firing time of the detected x-ray pulse relative to an internal clock of the detector is used to synchronize the detector's integration periods with the pulse rate of the x-ray generator based on the transmitted frame rate and the detected firing time of the x-ray pulses. Successive pulses may also be used to determine a frame rate without prior transmission thereof.

Abstract: A method for geometric calibration of a radiography apparatus acquires tomosynthesis projection images of patient anatomy from a detector and an x-ray source translated along a scan path. An epipolar geometry is calculated according to the relative position of the detector to the scan path by estimating a direction for epipolar lines that extend along an image plane that includes the detector. A region of interest of the patient anatomy that is a portion of each projection image and is fully included within each projection image in the series is defined. A consistency metric is calculated for estimated epipolar lines extending within the ROI. The method iteratively adjusts the epipolar line estimation until the consistency metric indicates accuracy to within a predetermined threshold. A portion of a tomosynthesis volume is reconstructed and displayed.

Abstract: Methods and implantable medical devices (IMDs) are provided for monitoring a cardiac function of a heart. A heart sound sensor is configured to sense heart sound signals of the subject. The IMD includes a memory to store program instructions. The IMD includes a processor that, when executing the program instructions, is configured to identify S2 signal segment from the heart sound signals, analyze the S2 signal segment to identify a pulmonary valve signal (P2 signal) and an aortic valve signal (A2 signal) within an S2 signal segment of the heart sound signals. The processor is configured to determine a time interval between the A2 and P2 signals, characterize the S2 signal segment to exhibit a first type of S2 split based on the time interval, and identify a cardiac condition based on a comparison of the first type of S2 split and a cardiac condition matrix.
