Abstract: A fixed-angle rotor for centrifuges includes stiffening ribs on the lower side of its rotor body. Its rotational energy is comparatively low during operation even at high speeds, whereby safety is noticeably increased without the need for a reinforced armored vessel in the centrifuge that is equipped therewith. At the same time, the drive power required to drive the fixed-angle rotor remains low. The fixed-angle rotor also withstands extreme loads over a long period of time. In addition, the fixed-angle rotor can be manufactured cost-effectively, because no additional components are required; rather, the stiffening ribs can also be manufactured during the manufacture of the rotor body. Finally, very thin rotor shells can also be used, which improves the temperature control of the samples, because the fixed-angle rotor has very good structural stability, especially in the main load directions.

Abstract: A method and a device for spray painting a workpiece uses an application device. The workpiece has at least two components that are movable relative to each other which are at least arranged region by region or meshing with each other such that, dependent on the relative position of the components, at least a subregion of one of components is mounted shaded so that the subregion is inaccessible for spray painting by the application device. The method and the device for the spray painting of workpieces, allow a fast, complete and cost-effective painting of a workpiece. One of the components is moved during the spray painting by means of an actuator such that the subregion of the component is displaced so that the subregion is not shaded and is accessible for spray painting by the application device.

Abstract: An in-line process for reusing printed cans is disclosed. The process includes positioning a printed can in front of a laser, the printed can having existing-print on an outer surface of the printed can. And, irradiating the outer surface of the printed can with laser radiation to remove 10% to 90% of the existing-print from the printed can and thereby form a lightened-printed can. And further, coating the outer surface of the lightened-printed can with a masking agent to form a blank-reprintable can. Finally, optionally, printing a new print-pattern on the outer surface of the blank-reprintable can to form a newly-printed can.

Abstract: The present invention relates in particular to a method and a device for a spatially resolved production of a location dependent textured coating. The method includes the steps of provisioning a two-dimensional representation, evaluating a data record of the two-dimensional representation, determining local structures of the two-dimensional representation, determining the type and location of at least one texture that is produced on at least one region of the two-dimensional representation, provisioning a fluid coating material, and applying the fluid coating material to at least one region of the two-dimensional representation.

Abstract: A method for coating a ceramic matrix composite substrate with an environmental barrier coating includes the steps of: treating a surface of a ceramic matrix composite substrate to adjust wettability of the surface; and applying an aqueous slurry-based environmental barrier coating to the surface. The treating step can be a plasma treatment to remove organic contaminants, and can also be a treatment to modify oxidative state of the surface. The treatment can produce a surface for treatment that is hydrophilic and has a contact angle with aqueous-slurry coating materials of less than 40 degrees.

Abstract: An ultrasonic device includes a driving circuit to provide drive power, a first transducer array to generate ultrasonic waves, the first transducer array being connected to receive power from the driving circuit, and a second transducer array to detect reflected or elicited ultrasonic waves incident on the device from a target and generate a signal based on those waves, the second transducer array being acoustically transmissive and disposed over the first transducer array such that the generated ultrasonic waves pass through the second transducer array. The second array is tuned to operate on top of the first. The functions of the two arrays may be reversed and the array tuned to operate with the first array receiving and the second array transmitting.

Abstract: Acoustic medium of ultrasonic grip system consists of piezoelectric generator (1), wheel knuckle (9), ball bearing (10), wheel hub (11), wheel rim (15) and tyre of motor-car (20). The piezoelectric generator (1) creates ultrasound vibrations which are transferred through the acoustic medium to the surface of tyre (17). The ultrasound vibration on the surface of tyre (17) results in the separation of the surface of tyre (17) from the liquid (18) that may be found on tarmac (19) during the rain, which results in the fact that despite the unfavourable weather conditions the motor-car has an optimum rolling surface of tarmac. Also, the vibrations on the surface of tyre (17) in interaction with micro texture of tarmac increases the contact surface of tyre with tarmac, which results in the increase of coefficient of friction, higher grip of tyre and reduction of braking distance of motor-car. The ultrasonic grip system is activated at sudden braking, resp. activation of ABS system.
