A method for making a fastening rail includes producing a profiling in at least one central region of a top side of a metal plate and reshaping the metal plate to form the rail back, rail longitudinal sides and rail lips.

The polishable overlay may be polished once cured whereby the uncoupling membrane reduces stresses in the overlay layer during polishing.
