Publication number: 20200109336Abstract: Catalyst composition and parameters for catalytic hydrothermal liquefaction of biomass to bio-oil fuels target municipal solid waste (MSW) rather than lignin rich plant waste typically sought for bio-oil production. An HTL (Hydrothermal Liquefaction) reactor generates bio-fuel from municipal solid waste (MSW), including receiving, in the HTL reactor, non-lignin based waste from a municipal processing stream, and adding a solvent for extracting sugars from green waste components of the municipal processing stream. The reactor extracts a liquid from the received waste, and converts water soluble products in the liquid into oil soluble products via C—C(carbon-to-carbon) coupling reactions. A catalyst added to the resulting aqueous stream recovers a beneficial oil product, and is optimized by tuning acid and base sites on the solid catalyst.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 26, 2019Publication date: April 9, 2020Inventors: Michael T. Publication number: 20200109339Abstract: A process for converting C2-5 alkanes to higher value C5-24 hydrocarbon fuels and blendstocks. The C2-5 alkanes are converted to olefins by thermal olefination, without the use of a dehydrogenation catalyst and without the use of steam. The product olefins are fed to an oligomerization reactor containing a zeolite catalyst to crack, oligomerize and cyclize the olens to the fuel products which are then recovered. Optionally, hydrogen and methane are removed from the product olefin stream prior to oligomerization. Further optionally, C2-5 alkanes are removed from the product olefin stream prior to oligomerization.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2019Publication date: April 9, 2020Applicant: Swift Fuels, LLCInventors: Chris D'Acosta, Jeffery Miller, Kurtis Sluss, Benjamin Wegenhart

Publication number: 20200109340Abstract: A stream of cracked naphtha is fractionated into at least four specified fractions defined by their respective boiling point ranges. The lightest fraction, IBP to 50° C., is treated in a selective etherification or alkylation process to reduce its RVP value and increase its RON. The second fraction, 50° C. to 150° C., is selectively hydrogenated to treat and convert the diolefins present and the treated stream is sent directly to the gasoline blending pool since it has the desired RON and low sulfur content. The third, and optionally a fourth fraction, boiling in the range of 50° C. to 180° C., in an embodiment, are utilized for the production of aromatics and the raffinate stream, after aromatic extraction, is sent to the gasoline blending pool. A fraction of this latter stream can optionally be recycled for further cracking to produce additional aromatics and gasoline blending components.
