Publication number: 20200113725Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an exoskeleton support system for posture feedback and support during body trunk motions. The system comprises a biomimetic semi-rigid support system connected to body attachment straps for coupling the system onto a user. A feedback pad is positioned on the user's back at a location corresponding to a middle thoracic region of the user. This arrangement causes the user to experience pressure feedback on the back when torso flexion and twisting occur. In addition, progressive resistance on the shoulders is provided via shoulder straps containing stitching in a curved manner to allow for longitudinal flexion and unrestricted arm motion during system use. Further, the system provides indications of safe movements by way of little to no feedback during neutral torso positions. Accordingly, the system only delivers feedback pressure in response to an amount of the user's own body motion.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2016Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventors: Sean Petterson, Michael Kim, Michael Spinelli, Kyung In Noh, Timothy Bromm

Publication number: 20200113754Abstract: A backrest device that normally supports the occupant and moves forward with said occupant during a forward impact/crash event. The device is equipped with a spring activated biased ratcheting mechanism that provides only forward movement, thus reducing the amount of dangerous rear excursion during the rebound phase, as measured by the occupant's head and torso.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2019Publication date: April 16, 2020Applicant: Valeda Company, LLCInventors: Patrick GIRARDIN, Paul Edward SLEVINSKY

Publication number: 20200113755Abstract: The systems and methods provided herein are directed to navigating an automated mobility device for docking and undocking with a vehicle. The position and orientation of the mobility device relative to the vehicle are determined based on real-time images of the vehicle. Based on the position and orientation of the mobility device, the system determines a control command for automatically navigating the mobility device from its determined position to a docking position within the vehicle. The system subsequently determines a control command for automatically navigating the mobility device from the docking position within the vehicle to a position outside the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2018Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventors: Shigeyuki SEKO, Shinichi AKAMA, Brian W. Publication number: 20200113756Abstract: A wheelchair (1) is described which has two large propulsion wheels (5) for manually propelling the wheelchair, and a steering arrangement comprising a steering bar (8) on which are mounted smaller wheels (6). The small wheels may be free pivotable, as castors, or they may be locked by locking pins (12). A back-rest (4) can be tilted or rotated in a lateral plane about an axis (4?) by the user leaning his or her upper body to the left or the right. Movement (19) of the back-rest is transmitted by lever (20) and Bowden cable (21) to the steering bar (8). In this manner, the wheelchair (1) may be steered by the user leaning to the left or right.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 19, 2018Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventor: Reto Togni

Publication number: 20200113757Abstract: A wheelchair lift apparatus for assisted wheelchair loading and unloading includes a base frame having a front end, a rear end, a left side, and a right side. A plurality of wheels is coupled to the base frame. A vertical frame is perpendicularly coupled to the rear end of the base frame. A lift track is coupled to the vertical frame. A lift car is coupled to the lift track and has a track engagement portion and a perpendicular platform. The track engagement portion is slidably engageable with the lift track. A seat is coupled to the perpendicular platform. A lift bracket is coupled to the rear end of the base frame. A lift mechanism is coupled to the lift bracket and is in operational communication with the lift car to move the lift car to and from a lowered position and an alternate raised position.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 10, 2018Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventor: Muhammad Abdullah

Publication number: 20200113759Abstract: An ambulatory assist device provides mobility assistance for an ambulatory transition between seated and standing positions. A mobile frame defines a structure similar to a walker device. The mobile frame includes a plurality of wheels for rolling communication with a ground surface. Lift arms, driven by an actuator, pivot around an axis of a cross member attached to the frame. The lift arm is configured for actuated pivotal movement for an ambulatory transition between seated and standing positions by a harness engaging the patient. The pivot is based on an arc of patient movement between the sitting and standing positions, such that the arc emulates natural movements of a human skeletal frame during an ambulatory transition. The patient experiences forces along the same path that an unassisted transition would encounter. Once in an ambulatory position, the device allows ambulatory movement in a manner similar to a walking assist (walker) device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2019Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventor: Caleigh M. Publication number: 20200113761Abstract: A patient bed is provided in a healthcare facility having a network including a real time locating system (RTLS) and an electronic medical records (EMR) computer. The patient bed includes bed control circuitry that is configured to receive at least one protocol messages from the EMR computer and, in response to the at least one protocol message, enables at least one bed safety protocol in which at least one bed condition is monitored by the bed control circuitry. The bed control circuitry generates an alert in response to the at least one bed condition being in an undesirable state and no caregiver being present in the patient room as determined by the RTLS and communicated to the bed circuitry. The bed control circuitry suspends monitoring the at least one bed condition in response to the RTLS indicating to the bed control circuitry that at least one caregiver is present in the patient room.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2019Publication date: April 16, 2020Inventors: Kelly F.
