  • Patent number: 10625337
Abstract: A 3D printer includes a build plate providing a surface on which an object is printed. Prior to printing, a sheet is fixed to the surface of the build plate. The sheet is composed of a material that adheres to a binder component of the feedstock used to print the object. During printing, the first layer of the printed object forms a bond with the sheet, which secures the location of the first layer and resists movement of the object during printing. Following printing and the object gaining sufficient rigidity, the object and sheet can be removed together from the printer. The sheet may then be peeled from the object, and the object can undergo debinding and/or sintering to create a finished object.

  • Patent number: 10625342
Abstract: Methods of manufacturing or repairing a turbine blade or vane are described. The airfoil portions of these turbine components are typically manufactured by casting in a ceramic mold, and a surface made up of the cast airfoil and at the least the ceramic core serves as a build surface for a subsequent process of additively manufacturing the tip portions. The build surface is created by removing a top portion of the airfoil and the core, or by placing an ultra-thin shim on top of the airfoil and the core. The overhang projected by the shim is subsequently removed. These methods are not limited to turbine engine applications, but can be applied to any metallic object that can benefit from casting and additive manufacturing processes. The present disclosure also relates to finished and intermediate products prepared by these methods.

  • Patent number: 10625354
Abstract: An operator operates a throttle lever and by maximizing the extent of said operation, the drive state is initiated, and the crank shaft rotation rate R increases and reaches the maximal value (RC) thereof. Subsequently, the operator operates the dressing operation lever so as to be in a second state at elapsed time (t0) while keeping the extent of the throttle lever operation maximized. Because a microswitch is turned off, the crank shaft rotation rate (R) is controlled in a range of R1<R<R2. By placing the saw chain in contact with a grindstone fixed to the dressing operation lever simultaneously with said action, dressing work is performed. After the microswitch is turned off at elapsed time (t0), the output of an ignition coil is controlled cyclically by a control unit at a cycle (T1+T2) so as to be on (ignition) during period (T1) and off (flame off) during period (T2).

Abstract: A hexagonal single crystal wafer is produced from a hexagonal single crystal ingot. A wafer producing method includes a separation start point forming step of applying a laser beam to the ingot to form a modified layer parallel to the upper surface of the ingot and cracks extending from the modified layer, thus forming a separation start point. The focal point of the laser beam is relatively moved in a first direction perpendicular to a second direction where a c-axis in the ingot is inclined by an off angle with respect to a normal to the upper surface. The off angle is formed between the upper surface and a c-plane perpendicular to the c-axis, thereby linearly forming the modified layer extending in the first direction. The laser beam is applied to the ingot with the direction of the polarization plane of the laser beam set to the first direction.

Abstract: A bonding member that includes a base material that has a spiral shape when viewing a cross section thereof orthogonal to a longitudinal direction thereof, and contains a low melting point metal; and a coating film in a gap between opposed surfaces of the base material when the base material is in the spiral shape. The coating film contains metal particles of a high melting point metal that forms an intermetallic compound having a melting point higher than that of the low melting point metal by reaction of the high melting point metal with a melt of the low melting point metal. The low melting point metal is, for example, Sn or a Sn alloy. The high melting point metal is, for example, a Cu—Ni alloy, a Cu—Mn alloy, a Cu—Cr alloy, or a Cu—Al alloy.
