Abstract: A hybrid magnetically variable firing system for a firearm includes a trigger mechanism configured to allow a user to selectively adjust the trigger pull force-displacement profile. In a closed magnetic flux loop configuration, the trigger mechanism includes a selectively energizable electromagnetic and mechanical biasing member providing a static holding torque which creates resistance opposing movement of the trigger. Energizing the electromagnetic at a user-preselected point during the trigger pull event creates a magnetic force opposing the static holding torque, which dynamically changes the trigger pull force required to discharge the firearm. The electromagnetic assists the user in completing the trigger pull thereby creating an adjustable lighter trigger pull. In one embodiment, the electromagnet is energized when the actual trigger pull force applied or trigger displacement reaches a corresponding trigger setpoint preprogrammed into a control circuit.

Abstract: A handguard assembly and related method are provided. The handguard assembly can include a fastener assembly that installs in a handguard bore of a handguard. The fastener assembly can include a fastener head including first threads threaded in a first direction, a shaft extending from the fastener head, the shaft including second threads threaded in a second direction opposite the first direction, and a lock tab threadably engaging the second threads, the lock tab including a tab head. When the fastener assembly is converted from a retracted mode to an extended mode, the tab head can wedge into a barrel nut groove to secure the handguard to the barrel nut thereby impairing the handguard from rotating and/or sliding relative to the barrel nut. The shaft can thread into the lock tab when the fastener assembly is installed relative to the groove, with the overall length of the fastener assembly increasing as the tab head moves in the groove.

  • Patent number: 10670372
Abstract: A targeting system operable to be used with a bow to assist an operator with striking a target with an arrow. The targeting system comprising a processor, a target sighting window, a ranging module and a projector. The processor is operable to determine a range (distance) to the target and determine an orientation of the bow to strike the target. The processor is configured to present a first sighting element on the target sighting window and project a second sighting element onto the target sighting window. The projected second sighting element appears to be closer to the target than the first sighting element, which may be aligned with the second sighting element to aim the bow. The projector is also operable to present a variable compensated sighting mark onto the target sighting window that is indicative of a compensated targeting axis.

  • Patent number: 10670373
Abstract: A system trains usage of a firearm and includes an end unit, a processing subsystem, and a control subsystem remotely located from the end unit. The end unit includes an image sensor that is positioned against a target that has a bar code. The image sensor defines a field of view of a scene that includes the target, and the bar code stores encoded information that defines a target coverage zone. The system selectively operates in a first mode and a second mode according to input from the control subsystem. In the first mode the end unit scans the bar code to extract the target coverage zone. In the second mode the image sensor captures a series of images of the target coverage zone, and the processing subsystem analyzes regions of the captured series of images to determine a strike, by a projectile of the firearm, on the target.

  • Patent number: 10670375
Abstract: A novel adaptive armor system includes an array of armor elements, a hinge system, an actuator mechanism, and a tension support. The hinge system permits rotation of the armor elements about respective axes to change their orientation with respect to the vehicle body. The tension support is movably coupled between the actuator mechanism and the array and bears at least some of the weight of the armor elements in tension. The actuator mechanism moves the tension support (e.g., under the control of a controller) to change the angular orientation of at least some armor elements. Each armor element can include a tray that removably receives different ERA cassettes therein. An exemplary method includes detecting an incoming threat projectile, assessing at least one characteristic specific to the projectile, and changing the angular orientation of the array in a manner to defeat the incoming projectile. The invention provides threat adaptability while minimizing added weight and vehicle size.

  • Patent number: 10670376
Abstract: A method and a device for providing a dummy target via decoy chaffs for protecting a vehicle and/or an object from radar-guided missiles. After identification of the radar-guided missile and calculation of a decoy chaff pattern, the decoy chaff pattern is presented in the form of polar coordinates in accordance with the firing of shots, a “cut-off” distance for the determination of a defence radius is then found in these polar coordinates. A minimum distance between the disassembly or detonation points within the defence radius is set. The dummy target is then optimized on the basis of the “cut-off” distance and the minimum distance between the disassembly or detonation points. As a result of this calculation, the only decoy chaffs that are deloyed are those that meet the conditions, i.e. that have a minimum distance between the disassembly or detonation points within the defence radius in the optimized dummy target.

Abstract: The present invention relates to longitudinally sectioned bullets and methods that pertain to a penetrable projectile structured to be discharged from a firearm and comprising at least two separable and penetrable, non-fused individual longitudinal body sections and at least one exterior binding element, including at the frontal region of said penetrable projectile, that holds the at least two non-fused individual longitudinal body sections together until they rupture inside of a target, thereby causing the penetrable individual longitudinal body sections to separate away from each other inside of the target as the projectile penetrates the target. The penetrable projectile is thus capable of controlled fragmentation against a soft target, and is optionally adapted to deliver at least one supplemental payload to a target to further damage said target.

  • Patent number: 10670380
Abstract: In order to obtain an explosive smoke grenade, which can be fired from a portable anti-tank weapon, in particular a recoilless infantry weapon, and permits an enemy position or a vehicle to be fogged as quickly as possible, so that the enemy has only a very limited radius of action, a explosive smoke grenade is provided with a time fuse that can be programmed such that the burst charge detonates in the direct vicinity of the enemy position but before the grenade has reached the ground, and releases the smoke-generating active material. In addition, the pyrotechnic active substance arranged between the burst charge and the grenade casing is formed of a plurality of film strips, which are coated with a red-phosphorus-containing incendiary composition (flares). For this purpose, the dimensions of the flares are selected such that they generate a visibility barrier in both the visible and the infrared wavelength regions.

  • Patent number: 10670382
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for the manufacture of body line templates, and for the use of those templates to repair the body lines of motor vehicle body panels. The present invention improves body line repair by restoring body lines more precisely and in the fraction of time it would typically take. Templates are often used in the industry to cut and forge body panels or body panel pieces, but not for repairing body lines. The original pattern for a body line template is made from an undamaged, perfectly contoured panel, such as a quarter panel, door panel or fender. The body line templates are used as a guide to restore the original shape of the body line on a damaged body panel. The templates are also used as a guide to more easily perfect the body lines by manipulating the applied body filler. In this way, repair time can be reduced by fifty, or as much as seventy-five, percent.
