Abstract: An improved Scoliosis Boston Brace having self-tightening mechanism is disclosed, which tightens the brace around the patient's body with a motorized mechanism. The self-tightening mechanism makes it easier for the patient to tighten the brace around their body, and also eases the task of putting on/off, the brace. The components of the present invention includes a Boston brace, a worm drive, worm drive rack, a hexagonal peg, nylon strap, rivet, two parts epoxy glue, buttons and motor screwdriver. The worm drive and the worm drive rack are connected to the nylon strap, which is attached through rivet to the Boston Brace. The hexagonal peg helps in manipulating the worm drive, which determines the tightness of the brace; and the button attached to worm drive rack, helps to unclasp the mechanism when taking off the brace.

Abstract: A backboard is a device for the manual transport of a patient in need of medical care. The backboard with a tiltable assembly has a rigid body with an adjustable tilt assembly engaged to the upper portion. The adjustable tilt assembly is capable of being set in various positions, and is configured to elevate the torso of an accident victim. It allows first responders to have a consistent way to elevate a patient's head and/or torso in the CPR process (or other medical procedure) while the patient is still on the backboard and being transported. Because the elevation has been shown to increase the chance of the return of spontaneous circulation.
