Publication number: 20200178994Abstract: An electrosurgical instrument includes first and second jaw members each including an outer jaw housing, a tissue-treating plate, and a longitudinally-extending knife channel defined therethrough. The electrosurgical instrument also includes a knife actuator and a knife assembly operably coupled to the knife actuator. The knife actuator is configured to advance at least a portion of the knife assembly through the knife channel to cut tissue disposed between the jaw members. The knife assembly includes an elongated shaft having a proximal portion coupled to the knife actuator and a distal portion defining at least one aperture therethrough. The knife assembly also includes a knife blade having a sharpened distal end configured to cut tissue and at least one raised portion extending through the aperture defined by the elongated shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 4, 2019Publication date: June 11, 2020Inventor: Allen E. Publication number: 20200178996Abstract: A method is used to manufacture a surgical instrument including a first tube, and a second tube. The first tube extends from a proximal first end portion to a distal first end portion. The second tube extends from a proximal second end portion to a distal second end portion. The second tube is positioned coaxially within the first tube with the distal second end portion positioned adjacent to the distal first end portion. The second tube defines a lumen. The sensor is secured proximal to the distal second end portion of the second tube. A die is engaged against a distal first end portion of the first tube while first tube rotates about its own longitudinal axis; and the die is simultaneously moved relative to the distal first end portion of the first tube along a predetermined path to form a predetermined shape.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2019Publication date: June 11, 2020Inventors: Ehsan Shameli, Fatemeh Akbarian, Todd A. Veloni, Babak Ebrahimi

Publication number: 20200178997Abstract: Arthroscopic cutters are used for resecting tissues, such as meniscal tissues, in meniscectomies or other arthroscopic procedures. The arthroscopic cutters have a shaft assembly with openable-closeable jaws at a working end of the shaft. A handpiece having a motor drive may be detachably coupled to a hub on a hub end of the handpiece. When the shaft is coupled to the handpiece, the motor drive will couple to the jaw structure to open and close the jaw structure to cut meniscal and other tissues.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 13, 2020Publication date: June 11, 2020Applicant: RELIGN CorporationInventors: Aaron Germain, Jeffrey Norton, Salvatore G.
