Individual material fractions of a material composite, such as a material fraction of the second type to be comminuted and having a lower density than a first material fraction, may be separated in larger pieces from remaining material, to facilitate the transport of individual material fractions and further processing as part of raw material recovery.

Abstract: A grinding machine for grinding foodstuffs, such as meat or the like, includes an orifice plate at the outlet of a grinding head. The orifice plate has collection passages that discharge a mixture of soft material and hard material through the orifice plate. A separator assembly is positioned downstream of the orifice plate for separating the soft material from the hard material. The separator assembly includes a separator chamber that receives the mixture of soft material and hard material, in combination with a rotatable separator screw positioned within the separator chamber. Rotation of the separator screw functions to separate the soft material from the hard material. Abstract: A device for wet mechanical separation of a mixture of solid materials of different density comprises a rotatable drum having a bottom wall, a closed peripheral wall and an open top. The drum tapers conically upwards and vertically. A motor is provided for rotating the drum in a rotation direction. A supply supplies a separating liquid with a mixture of solid materials of different density through the open top into the rotatable drum. During operation rotating the drum results in driving the separating liquid with the mixture of solid materials outwardly towards the inner wall of the drum. Depending on their density solid materials to be separated either float on the surface of separating liquid or sink towards the bottom wall and can be discharged and gathered from the top or bottom of the drum, respectively. The device comprises at least one discharge extending radially outwards from the bottom wall of the drum for separating liquid and solid materials that have sunk to the bottom wall.

Abstract: Centrifuges are useful to, among other things, remove red blood cells from whole blood and retain platelets and other factors in a reduced volume of plasma. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and or platelet poor plasma (PPP) can be obtained rapidly and is ready for immediate injection into the host. Embodiments may include valves, operated manually or automatically, to open ports that discharge the excess red blood cells and the excess plasma into separate receivers while retaining the platelets and other factors in the centrifuge chamber. High speeds used allow simple and small embodiments to be used at the patient's side during surgical procedures. The embodiments can also be used for the separation of liquids or slurries in other fields such as, for example, the separation of pigments or lubricants.

Abstract: A showerhead engine internally swirls water within a swirling chamber. Multiple swirling chambers may be used, each separated from one another. The water is swirled angled through holes in a mid plate. As the water passes through the angled holes, it is projected out an angle. The water then contacts the swirling chamber wall and continues to follow the curvature of the wall. The curved wall paired with the angled entry causes the water to continue to swirl within the swirling chamber. The water is released out of the swirling chamber through slots, which allow the water to retain the angular velocity at a discharge angle.
