Abstract: A metered dose inhaler (1) for dispensing aerosol doses comprises an actuation housing (2) adapted to receive a canister (4). The canister (4) is configured to move from a rest position to an activation position in which a valve (7) of the canister (4), positioned at a valve end (8) of the canister (4), is depressed against a bottom portion of the actuation housing such that an aerosol dose is released. The inhaler (1) further comprises a mechanical dose (10) counter comprising an indicator member which is constructed and arrangement to undergo a predetermined count-indicating motion when an aerosol dose is released. Moreover, the inhaler (1) comprises a triggering unit (11) for triggering at least one electrical switch (12) when the canister (4) is moved from the rest position to the activation position whereby an electrical signal is generated. Also part of the inhaler (1) is a processing unit for processing the signal generated by the switch (12) upon being triggered.

Abstract: A device (20) is disclosed for dispensing a fluid supplied from an external fluid source. The device comprises a transducer (32) adapted to receive a fluid from the fluid source, and a collapsible linkage and trip link (502) coupling the transducer and the fluid source. The linkage has a collapsible joint inhibiting discharge of the fluid source when in a locked orientation. The device (20) further comprises a moveable member coupled to the linkage such that inhalation forces on the device cause the linkage to collapse thereby discharging the fluid from the fluid source. The device may further include a dose counter coupled to the fluid source for registering the amount of doses administered from the fluid source.

  • Patent number: 10729865
Abstract: A device, for the pressure-supported or pressure-controlled ventilation of a patient with reduced spontaneous breathing, has a ventilator unit to supply a breathing air flow composed of cyclical ventilation strokes and a control unit generating a control signal to set a pressure and/or a volume flow of the breathing air flow. An EMG unit generates an EMG signal, which may be used as a basis for generating the control signal as a function of a breath of the patient. A unit for analyzing an EMG signal is provided, which analyzes at least one EMG signal recorded during an already concluded breath of the patient. The control unit is configured such that the ventilator unit control signal can be generated, at least at times, by taking into account the analysis of the EMG signal recorded during an already concluded breath of the patient.

Abstract: A metering pump is joined to the stepping motor, includes an eccentric mechanism converting a revolving motion of the stepping motor into a reciprocating motion of a plunger, and makes a constant liquid delivery by sucking and discharging an anesthetic agent through variations in the cubic volume of a cylinder caused by the reciprocating motion of the plunger. The control section: calculates a suction and discharge cycle T of the metering pump on the basis of a set anesthetic-gas concentration and a fresh-gas flow rate; sets a discharge period T2 of the cycle T to be longer than a suction period T1 of the cycle T; and controls the revolution speed of the stepping motor so that the travelling speed of the plunger is kept constant during the discharge period T2.
