Abstract: A dental polishing tool for use in dental procedures. The polishing tool comprises an elongate polishing strip having an abrading surface. The polishing strip has a leading end and a trailing end. Extending from the leading end of the polishing strip, is a thin, flexible tail which comprises a flexible portion and a rigid tip at the end of the tail. The tail is designed to be inserted into a gap between two adjacent teeth. This tail facilitates positioning of the polishing strip into a position between the teeth. The tail is pulled through to draw the polishing strip into a position between the teeth. The user could then apply the polishing strip against the tooth in a conventional manner.

Abstract: A method for representing a change in a tooth position includes creating a volume data record of an initial position of teeth in a maxilla or mandible and ascertaining teeth boundaries therefrom. A surface data record is created following a real or virtual change in the tooth position. The surface data record includes surface data of the teeth and/or parts of the volume data record of the jaw in an altered tooth position. The surface data record is referenced with the volume data record via a reference structure. The change in the tooth position in the volume data record is transformed to align teeth boundaries with the surface data of corresponding teeth from the surface data record to move tooth structures contained in the volume data record and concealed under a surface. An altered volume record with the change in the tooth position is then outputted for representation purposes.

Abstract: An orthopaedic system includes an insert defining an anterior-posterior centerline and including: a medial half on one side of the centerline and defining a medial shape, the medial half having a medial articular surface defining a medial dwell region; and a lateral half on an opposite side of the centerline and defining a lateral shape that differs from the medial shape, the lateral half having a lateral articular surface. A femoral component includes a medial condylar portion bearing on the medial articular surface and a lateral condylar portion bearing on the lateral articular surface. The insert is configured to substantially limit medial anterior-posterior translation on the femoral component and define a pivot axis that extends through the medial dwell region. The insert is configured such that rotation of the lateral articular surface follows an arcuate path about the pivot axis.

Abstract: A total ankle prosthesis that includes a talar component that has a bone contacting side for contacting a talus and an articular side opposite the bone contacting side. The articular side has first and second condyles separated by an intercondylar notch. The first condyle defines a spheroidal convex surface. The prosthesis also includes a tibial component that has a bone contacting side for contacting a tibia and an articular side. The articular side has first and second condyles separated by an intercondylar spine. The first condyle of the tibial component defines a concave surface. The concave surface has a condylar edge that defines a perimeter thereof and a plurality of articular portions positioned between anterior and posterior extents of the condylar edge. A first articular portion of the articular portions is spheroidal and a second articular portion is defined by a cylindrical helix.

Abstract: Dural repair devices that are configured to effectively and reliably repair the damage of a dural tear due to incidental durotomies are provided, along with methods of use. The devices and methods enhance the ability of a surgeon to repair a patients dura mater, or dura, during surgery of the central nervous system. The dural repair device has a multi-layer structure configured to exert a pressure or tamponade effect to compress a patient's dura to its state prior to the spinal surgery. Thus, the dural repair devices and methods of use may reduce the patients risk morbidity, further surgery, spinal headaches, or other injuries and discomforts.
