Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to a Parkinson's disease detection system. Parkinson's disease is a neuro-degenerative disorder affecting motor and cognitive functions of subjects. Since symptom manifestation is limited in Parkinson's disease, identifying Parkinson's disease in the early stage is a challenging task. The present disclosure overcomes the limitations of the conventional methods for detecting Parkinson's disease by utilizing a graph theory approach. Here, each pressure sensor attached to an insole corresponding to a plurality of pressure points associated with a foot of the subject is considered as a node of a connectivity graph. The foot dynamics analysis is performed based on a metric known as mediolateral stability index and the mediolateral stability index is calculated by utilizing a betweenness centrality associated with each node of the connectivity graph. Further, the mediolateral stability index is compared with standard values to detect the intensity of the Parkinson's disease.

Abstract: An ocular cranial nerve monitoring system (OCNMS) that provides continuous measurement of pupillary reactivity in the eye. The system features a sensor component that produces a stimulating light and a recording light and records reflected recording light so as to calculate pupillary diameter and response to stimulation as measured by latency, velocity, and/or amplitude. This system of the present invention may be used for indirect assessment of the 2nd and 3rd cranial nerve (CN 2, CN3) pathways and/or intracranial pressure in patients and may be used intraoperatively. The data obtained from this system may allow for immediate corrective actions, which may help prevent permanent deficits and improve patient safety and surgical outcomes. In some instances, the system may help avoid unnecessary or invasive procedures (e.g., catheters inserted for intracranial pressure monitoring).

Abstract: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) may include applying a periodic excitation signal via an electrode of a CGM sensor to human interstitial fluid to drive an oxidation/reduction reaction, and measuring the current through the electrode. In some embodiments, the measured current is sampled and digitized, and various harmonics of the excitation signal's fundamental frequency are extracted. A set of relationships of at least two harmonics each is generated from the spectral amplitudes of a set of pairs, triplets, etc., of the harmonics, and the set of relationships is mapped to a glucose concentration such as based on the contents of a harmonic relationship database having a pre-existing set of harmonic relationships and glucose concentrations to which those sets of harmonic relationships correspond, for example. Numerous other embodiments are provided.

Abstract: A method is provided for determining a relative position of an object in relation to an x-ray imaging apparatus for creating an x-ray and a recorded image. The method includes brining an object in a ray path of the x-ray into a first position. In the first recorded image, at least one defined geometry in and/or on the object is imaged. A measure for a change in the focus point towards a second focus point is undertaken at the x-ray source. The x-ray with the second focus point is created by the x-ray source and a second recorded image of the object in the first position is created by the x-ray focused on the second focus point. In the second recorded image, the at least one defined geometry is imaged.
