Abstract: Provided are a method of maintaining the ovaries of marine fish, and a method of obtaining fertilized egg. Provided is a method of maintaining ovaries in which the ovaries are removed from marine fish and the ovaries or fragmented ovaries are cultured in a culture solution. Also, provided is a method of obtaining fertilized eggs of marine fish, the method including allowing ovaries, which have been maintained after removal to ovulate and performing artificial insemination. Further, the present invention relates to a method of maintaining the fertilization capability of ovulated eggs of marine fish by using the culture solution. According to the present invention, fertilized eggs of marine fish can be easily obtained and seed can be efficiently produced.

Abstract: The current invent relates to the construction and application of a three-line breeding system in the Peruvian scallop×bay scallop southern subspecies hybrids. The said three-line consists of a male sterile line, a maintainer line and a restorer line. A combination of male sterile line and maintainer line is obtained by continuously backcrossing the male sterile individuals selected from F1 inter-specific hybrid families with sperm of the selfing family of the sperm-providing bay scallops until the progenies are all male sterile. The restorer line is obtained by continuously backcrossing selected individuals from the male sterile line with sperm of the selfing family of a bay scallop until the progenies are all hermaphroditic and exhibit excellent production traits. Commercial male sterile brood stocks are produced by backcrossing the male sterile line with the maintainer line and commercial hybrid spats are produced by backcrossing the male sterile line and the restorer line.

Abstract: A rapidly deployable underwater coral cultivation system comprising a tensioned propagule support line or rod, and a propagule-encircling loop for attachment thereto, wherein the propagules' tissues and skeleton overgrow the line/rod. Multiple propagules of a single genetic clone on a line/rod may fuse into a single linear coral colony, whereby the natural structural and anti-fouling attributes of the target organism provide structural rigidity to the system and high survivorship of the live material in nursery culture. A preferred embodiment may provide a low to no maintenance protocol soon after deployment thereby allowing for “set and forget” through self-planting endpoints. In some embodiments, a vertical arrangement provides full leverage advantage to the support buoy as growth increases (coral) weight. In some embodiments, the vertically-oriented single genetic clone facilitates gamete capture for facilitated spawning in coral (ecosystem) enhancement and restoration.

The invention further provides the newly created: WW homogametic Neo-male decapod crustacean and WW homogametic female decapod crustacean. The crossing of WW homogametic Neo-male decapod crustacean and WW homogametic female decapod crustacean resulted in a 100% homogametic all-WW female progeny.

Abstract: A spinning reel handle system that includes a seat body with a hollow, rearward extending threaded neck. The seat body includes an upper curved surface, a concave lower surface and a rear neck cavity. Formed on the seat body are longitudinally aligned bores in which a blank is extended. Formed on the seat body are front and rear slots that receive the feet on a spinning reel. The system also includes a rotating nut with a cylindrical body. The cylindrical body is hollow and includes internal threads that engage the external threads on the neck. During assembly, the front and rear feet on the spinning reel are inserted into the front and rear slots. The nut is tightened onto the neck until it presses against the rear foot. The seat body includes a recessed void space that enables the fisherman to touch the blank with his thumb while gripping the seat body.

The fishing reel is configured such that a spool shaft and a pinion are spaced apart from each other without being in contact with each other, so that it is possible to prevent reduction in casting distance and noise generation during casting due to friction between the spool shaft and the pinion. Abstract: An agricultural implement has a product supply chamber, and a pair of transversely extending product delivering booms, each with a plurality of conduits of varying lengths terminating in product distributing nozzles. A fan supplies air to a mixing chamber which also receives product from the supply chamber providing an air entrained flow of product to each conduit. A controller monitors product delivery and controls implement operation. Each conduit has a pressure tap near the nozzle for providing the controller with a pressure differential indication. The controller initiates a corrective action modifying the operation of the delivery system when a predetermined pressure differential threshold is exceeded. The corrective action may include an increased air flow volume, an additional burst of higher pressure air into the conduit, a temporary increase in air flow from the air flow source, or a reduction in the rate of product flow from the supply chamber.

Abstract: A feedback and feedforward as well as a statistical predictive control system and method for continuously controlling texture of a food snack in a manufacturing process. The feedback system includes a quantitative texture measuring tool that is positioned downstream of a food processing unit. The texture measuring tool continuously measures a texture attribute of food snack from the food processing unit and feeds back texture attribute information to a controller that controls input parameters to food processing unit such that the texture attribute of a resultant food snack falls within an acceptable limit. The texture measuring tool comprises an excitation tool that strikes the food snack and produces an acoustic signal that is processed by a data processing unit. The data processing unit identifies relevant frequencies in the acoustic signal and quantitatively measures a texture attribute based on a correlated model that includes the relevant frequencies.

Abstract: The invention relates to a reconstituted tobacco sheet having a basis weight of less than about about 230 grams per square metre and comprising tobacco stem or tobacco stalk refined fibres having an average length of at least about 200 micrometres and tobacco cast leaf material. There is further provided a method of making a reconstituted tobacco sheet, the method comprising providing tobacco stems and conditioning the tobacco stems such that their moisture content is increased to at least about 40% Oven Volatiles (OV). The tobacco stems are processed in a twin screw extruder to so as to obtain a pulp suspension having a Schop-per-Riegler index of at least about 30 degrees and comprising tobacco stem or tobacco stalk refined fibres having an average length of at least about 200 micrometres. This pulp suspension is combined with tobacco cast leaf material to obtain a slurry and a sheet is formed from this slurry.
