Abstract: The present invention provides an improved orthotic device adapted to be inserted into a high-heeled or raised-heel shoe and to receive a human foot thereon. The orthotic device may be operable to adhere to the sole of the shoe and may comprise a proximal contoured slope operable to prevent migration and increase acceptance of body weight at the heel of the wearer's foot and may comprise a distal contoured slope operable to support the arch of the wearer's foot, preventing the foot from sliding forward and focusing excessive painful pressure at the user's toes. The orthotic device may also have dual layers of adhesive material separated by a peel-away backing, and an inferior surface concavity with a channel allowing solvent to be used to dissolve the adhesive if the orthotic device needs to be repositioned or changed to a new shoe.

Abstract: An insole for insertion into footwear includes a base, and an arch support located on an underside of the base layer, the arch support including a frame forming at least a portion of a perimeter of the arch support, and multiple ribs extend from a first side of the frame to a second side of the frame, wherein a first set of the ribs is raised relative to a second set of the ribs.

Abstract: An athlete in any athletic event generates forces on and subjects their lower extremities to forces which are unique to that athlete's mass, speed and strength. These forces are also affected by the composition of the playing field surface, shoe design and construction and other factors. It is possible to determine, according to these factors, the level of force above which injury to the athlete's lower extremities is inevitable—the pre-injury force threshold. This pre-injury force threshold is then used to design and build an athletic shoe which will provide a force-mitigating deformation induced by forces equal to the particular athlete's pre-injury force threshold. This deformation of the athletic shoe prevents injury to the athlete's lower extremities. This deformation may be induced by designing the sole of an athletic shoe with specifically engineered incised cut-outs or channels in the athletic shoe sole.

Abstract: A method for inflating a chamber in an article composed at least partially of polymer layers, such as thermoplastic layers. The method can allow for forming an aperture in a polymer layer, inflating a chamber or volume in fluid communication with the aperture, and then welding or sealing the chamber so that the inflation fluid is substantially retained in the chamber and/or does not escape via the aperture. In various aspects, the formation of the aperture, inflation of the chamber, and sealing of the chamber or aperture can be performed by a single tool and/or based on a single registration of the thermoplastic article with a tool. In some aspects, formation of the aperture is enabled in part by using a punch with a cupped surface that allows the top layer of a thermoplastic article to be breached without forming a hole in at least one lower layer.

The first zone reflects a greater amount of light than a second zone of the textile. Other aspects herein are directed to a method of manufacturing a reflective textile or article having a portion comprising a reflective textile.

Abstract: A cord lock includes various components used to slidably adjust a cord length, such as one or more housing components that releasably clamp around the cord. In one aspect, the cord lock includes an arrangement of magnets that bias the cord-lock housing components away from one another, in order to secure the cord between the housing components. The housing components can be pressed towards one another to slidably adjust the cord. In a further aspect, the cord lock may also include a magnetized excess-cord retainer that attaches to a portion of the cord and that releasably attaches to the cord lock in order to help gather excess cord pulled through the cord lock.

Abstract: An article of footwear providing easy donning and doffing through a heel region. A heel cup is pivotably coupled with the footwear to articulate between an open configuration allowing easier access to a foot-receiving cavity and a closed configuration enclosing a heel region of the footwear. A tensioning strap extends from a first side of the footwear around the heel cup to an opposite second side of the footwear when the heel cup is in the closed configuration. The heel strap is effective to structurally secure the heel cup in the closed configuration. One or more tensioning strands may extend from the tensioning strap. The tensioning strands may be effective to convert force provided through the tensioning strap across a forefoot portion to generate a forefoot securing force through a lacing mechanism.

The footwear may further include a plurality of lace receiving members fixedly attached to an outer surface of the upper on the inelastic portions of the upper. Also, the footwear may include a sole structure fixedly attached to the upper. In addition, the footwear may include a motorized tensioning system including a motorized tightening device and a tensile member extending through the plurality of lace receiving members, the tightening device being configured to apply tension in the tensile member to adjust the size of an internal void defined by the article of footwear by drawing two or more of the plurality of lace receiving members closer to one another.
