  • Publication number: 20200396995
Abstract: Identification and evaluation of a set of first-in-class potent inhibitors targeting a new cancer target, Grb2-associated binder-1 (GAB1), which integrates signals from different signaling pathways and is frequently over-expressed in cancer cells. Intensive computational modeling is utilized to understand the structure of the GAB1 pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and screened five million compounds. Upon biological evaluation, several inhibitors were found that induced large conformational changes of the target structure exhibited strong selective binding to GAB1 PH domain. Particularly, these inhibitors demonstrated potent and tumor-specific cytotoxicity in breast cancer cells. This targeting GAB1 signaling may be used for cancer therapy, especially for triple negative breast cancer patients.

Abstract: A strain of Oceanobacillus picturae and applications thereof are provided, which relate to technical fields of microorganism and food processing. A strain of halophilic bacteria was screened from the brine of Xiangyang Pickled Kohlrabi and was identified as the strain of Oceanobacillus picturae by morphology, physical and chemical properties and 16S rRNA sequence. The strain is able to significantly increase the varieties and contents of volatile substances, and decrease the contents of pungent substances in pickled vegetables. The strain of Oceanobacillus picturae can improve the to taste and the flavor of the pickled vegetables.

Abstract: The present invention provides an aqueous composition containing salt, acetic acid, and sugars which can be used as a sauce or a seasoning. The advantage of the invention is that the growth of yeasts and/or moulds in aqueous food products is reduced, leading to good keepability of the composition. This has been achieved using a relatively low salt level and without preservatives, which makes this product very versatile: a chef can use it freely, without the risk of overdosing the salt level of a prepared food dish. Finally, the product contains sugars and acetic acid, and has a pH between 3 and 4.6.

Abstract: The present invention relates to natural aqueous essence compositions comprised of flavor and aroma constituents from hops. The invention also relates to methods for adding flavor and aroma to beers, ciders, meads, or other fermented beverages, as well as other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages such as seltzers, flavored waters, and teas where a hop-derived flavor and aroma is desired. The aqueous essence compositions are comprised of compounds that are naturally present in hops or in beer and/or result from processes that occur during brewing or in the aqueous processing of hop cones, hop pellets, or other solids separated from the hop plant (Humulus lupulus). The present invention also relates to the process by which aroma and flavor components are released and isolated from hops in a process that involves steam stripping, concentration, and collection of valuable aroma- and flavor-active hop constituents.
