Abstract: A GPS system within a structure. The system comprises a front-end unit (FEU) and a back-end unit (BEU); FEU receives a GPS signal, amplifying it if required and forwarding the signal to the BEU for further processing (and amplification if required) for determining the location. The BEU and FEU cooperate to optimize the received GPS signal before processing, exchanging control and operating parameters information related to receiving and processing the GPS signal. The BEU also supplies power to the FEU. Advantageously, exchange of signals and power between the BEU and FEU occurs over one or more fiber optic channels or conductors. Certain embodiments employ multiplexing and demultiplexing schemes to reduce the number of discrete signal paths between the FEU and BEU. Additionally, the system embodies a control algorithm to ensure adequate GPS signal strength for processing and also shuts the system down upon signal loss or degradation.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, a GNSS receiver may calculate protection levels for velocity and course over ground computed at a GNSS receiver. Specifically, the GNSS receiver may obtain Doppler measurements and variance measurements based on satellite signals received from at least five GNSS satellites. The GNSS receiver may utilize a least squares method to calculate the velocity states (e.g., x-velocity state, y-velocity state, and z-velocity state) and the clock bias for the GNSS receiver. The GNSS receiver may calculate the slope for each Doppler measurement on each velocity state. The GNSS receiver may then select the maximum slope for each velocity state and scale up the maximum slopes by a non-centrality parameter to calculate the protection level for each velocity state in the ECEF frame. The GNSS receiver may convert the velocity protection levels to NEU velocity protection levels to then calculate a protection level for course over ground.

Abstract: The present invention discloses to a backlight module and a display device. A flexible printed circuit board is connected to a step of a plastic frame, so that the flexible printed circuit board can be prevented from being adhered to a light guide plate, and thus a distance between a light source and an iron frame can be reduced, and heat dissipation performance of the backlight module can be enhanced. A blocking wall is disposed on each of two side faces of a light-emitting unit perpendicular to the plastic frame, and a reflective film is disposed on a side surface of the blocking wall facing the light-emitting unit, so that light emitted from the light-emitting unit can be collected and reflected, and a greater amount of light can enter the light guide plate from the light-emitting unit, enhancing luminous efficiency of the backlight module, and reducing manufacturing costs.

Abstract: A polarization-maintaining multi-core fiber includes a plurality of fiber core areas and a main outer cladding. The fiber core areas include one central fiber core area, and two or more than two outer fiber core areas equidistantly and uniformly arranged around the central fiber core area that is a polarization-maintaining fiber core area. Each outer fiber core area includes a fiber core and an inner cladding surrounding a core layer. A portion outside the fiber core areas is the main outer cladding. The fiber can greatly enhance spectral efficiency of an optical transmission system, and improve fiber communication capacity. The arrangement of the polarization-maintaining fiber core area provides a waveguide structure with a function of maintaining polarized light, which can be used for transmission of local light.
