Abstract: There is provided a filter for filtering particles in a container of fluid. The filter comprises a flow director comprising a hub, a plurality of radial blades extending from the hub and a plurality of vanes concentric about the hub. The blades and the vanes intersect to form a grid which collectively define a plurality of openings, each opening extending between a first face and a second face, where a cross-sectional area of each opening decreases from the first face to the second face. The filter further includes a skirt coupled to the perimeter of the flow director for maintaining the flow director in spaced relation from a bottom of the container. The decrease in cross-sectional area of the openings in the grid helps to prevent particles from travelling from a position below the flow director to a position above the flow director.

Abstract: A conversion device for converting linear movement in a stationary system into rotary movement about a pivot axis in a system which rotates about an axis of rotation that is not identical or parallel to the pivot axis. The conversion device has a lift element and a lift device with which the lift element can be moved with translatory movement relative to the stationary system. The lift element has first and second lift element portions connected together by a rotary bearing so that the first lift element portion can be rotated relative to the second lift element portion about the axis of the rotary bearing. The first lift element portion is connected to the lift device and the second lift element portion is connected to the conversion device. The conversion device is connected to a shaft positioned on the pivot axis so that a linear movement of the second lift element portion is converted into a rotary movement of the shaft about the pivot axis.

Abstract: The novel porous framework materials (such as metal organic frameworks or covalent organic frameworks) having a wide range of applications, which was designed and developed in an inventive manner to resolve issues with respect to a carrier material in a stationary phase of a conventional chiral chromatographic column in which the carrier material has poor stability, a chiral resolving agent has a low loading rate, and the chiral resolving agent is prone to loss or is applied in a restricted manner. The porous framework material efficiently loads a chiral resolving agent (such as proteins, enzymes, or macrocyclic antibiotics) by means of covalent bonding, adsorption, embedding, and crosslinking, such that a variety of efficient and durable chiral stationary phases are prepared to serve as a novel high-performance chromatographic column filler used for chromatographic chiral separation (such as high-performance liquid chromatography or capillary chromatography).
