Abstract: The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for delivering and/or withdrawing a substance or substances such as blood or interstitial fluid, from subjects, e.g., from the skin and/or from beneath the skin. In one aspect, the present invention is generally directed to devices and methods for withdrawing or extracting blood from a subject, e.g., from the skin and/or from beneath the skin, using devices containing a fluid transporter (for example, one or more microneedles), and a storage chamber having an internal pressure less than atmospheric pressure prior to receiving blood. In some cases, the device may be self-contained, and in certain instances, the device can be applied to the skin, and activated to withdraw blood from the subject. The device, in some cases, may be interfaced with external equipment to determine an analyte contained within a fluid contained within or collected by the device.

Abstract: A system and method for providing diagnostic analysis of a physical condition of a human body. A signal generator, an emitter, a receiver, and processor(s) generate a baseline signal. In some implementations, the emitter may emit the baseline signal through cells of the human body over scanning points for a predetermined amount of time, and a receiver detects reflected signals that have propagated through the cells of the human body. Some implementations include determining, by the one or more processors, a power spectrum density (PSD) of the reflected baseline signal and a spectral variance in the PSD of the reflected baseline signal relative to the baseline signal. Some implementations may compare the spectral variance to one or more predetermined spectral variances corresponding to one or more conditions of the human body and determine the condition of the human body, based on the comparison.

The ASIC includes digital control logic and sufficient memory to accumulate digital output frames in various modes of operation prior to output from the ASIC, permitting advanced imaging functionalities directly on the ASIC, while maintaining a dynamic range of 16 bits and single photon sensitivity. The effective or secondary frames output from the pixel array ASIC can be tagged with user provided external triggers synchronizing the effective frames to the x-ray beam energy and/or to the movement of the x-ray source or imaged object. This enables dual energy imaging and ultra-fast scanning, without complex and costly conventional photon counting x-ray imaging sensors. The system architecture is simpler and higher performance.

Abstract: An ultrasound scanner in a spectral Doppler mode, in which a corresponding two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound imaging mode (e.g., B-mode) image is frozen, is switched temporarily to the 2D-mode in response to a continuous contact on a touchscreen. During the continuous contact, the spectral Doppler mode is interrupted, the 2D-mode image becomes live, and the gate for the spectral Doppler mode may be adjusted by a movement of the continuous contact on the touchscreen. Upon termination of the continuous contact, the system reverts back to the spectral Doppler mode, which now operates within the adjusted gate, and the 2D-mode image is frozen. A brief contact may be used to check the position of the gate against a live 2D-mode image without adjusting it.

Abstract: The technical problem to be solved by the present invention is to design a cosmetic surgical method for presenting a deeper or longer philtrum at the lip by adjusting the muscle flaps at the lips and nose. The theoretical basis of this surgical method is a “theory of labionasal muscle tension thread group” summarized from a series of studies with respect to anatomy, biomechanics and clinical surgical verification. According to this theory, the labionasal muscle tension structure is reconstructed by surgical adjustment of the position and direction of the muscle flaps, so as to produce an effect of changing the profile of the “philtrum” and to improve or remodel the “philtrum” as an aesthetic labial structure.

According to some embodiments, an osteotomy method may include cutting a tibia with an arcuate cut to separate a tibial plateau of the tibia from a tibial base of the tibia, rotating the tibial plateau relative to the tibial base from a first orientation to a second orientation, and, with the tibial plateau in the second orientation relative to the tibial base, securing an implant to the tibia to secure the tibial plateau to the tibial base. Securing the implant to the tibia may include embedding a first leg of the implant into the tibial base, and embedding a second leg of the implant into the tibial plateau such that the first and second legs apply compression urging the tibial plateau toward the tibial base.
