Patent number: 10940219Abstract: Microspheres made of solid glass are used in radiation therapy, wherein the radiotherapeutic radionuclide must be generated in the glass by neutron activation. Microspheres of this type have a high radioactive load, are relatively heavy and contain additional non-therapeutic radionuclides. Additionally, radioactive microspheres made of plastic are used, which can be loaded with radionuclides by chemical means. These microspheres have a lower loading capacity, no additional radionuclides, and are lighter. The therapeutic radionuclide in both cases is Y-90. Microspheres made of nanoporous glass contain the therapeutic radionuclide, have a high loading capacity, require no neutron activation, can be parallel charged with multiple therapeutic and with diagnostic radionuclides, and are very light. It is possible to produce them in a radiochemical laboratory. Microspheres of this type can also be used diagnostically in preparation for therapy.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2019Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: SphereRx, LLCInventor: Eberhard Fritz

Patent number: 10940261Abstract: An infusion system comprises an infusion pump that comprises an input unit and a display unit. The input unit is adapted for adjusting a value of at least one parameter for controlling operation of the infusion pump and/or an infusion process, and the display unit displays the value of the at least one parameter. The input unit comprises at least one slide bar adapted to be touched by a user's finger and moved along its length to change the value of the parameter, wherein movement in a first direction increases the value of the parameter and in a reversed, second direction decreases the value. The slide bar is adapted so that the rate of change of the parameter value correlates with the speed of the finger movement and in an idle mode is decelerated in a similar way as under influence of an inertia load and/or a friction.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2017Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: Micrel Medical Devices S.A.Inventor: Achilleas Tsoukalis

Patent number: 10940266Abstract: A control unit for an electronically controlled pump unit controls the pump unit to infuse insulin into a diabetic's body in a substantially continuous way according to a preset infusion schedule as a function of time. The control unit includes an intervention unit that continuously evaluates a blood-glucose indicative input for detecting an actual or expected hypoglycaemia and executes, in response to an actual or expected hypoglycaemia, a temporary hypoglycaemia intervention. The intervention includes, for an intervention time interval, overriding the preset infusion schedule by temporarily suspending insulin infusion or temporarily reducing insulin infusion below the preset infusion schedule. The intervention unit adapts its way of operation with respect to executing the hypoglycaemia intervention in accordance with a control signal that is separate from the blood-glucose indicative input. The control unit automatically generates the control signal as a function of time and/or based on sensor input.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2018Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: Roche Diabetes Care, Inc.Inventors: Iddo Gescheit, Hans-Juergen Kuhr

Patent number: 10940267Abstract: A blood glucose control system is configured to modify therapy provide to a subject and determine whether the modified therapy results in a statistically significant improvement in glycemic control. The system obtains glycemic control information resulting from delivery of first therapy using a first value of a control parameter and determines a first effect corresponding to the first therapy. The control parameter is set to a second value that differs from the first value. The system obtains glycemic control information resulting from the delivery of the second therapy using the second value of the control parameter and determines a second effect corresponding to the second therapy. The system can perform a comparative assessment and determine whether the second value for the control parameter results in a statistically significant improvement in glycemic control for the subject.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 2020Date of Patent: March 9, 2021Assignee: Beta Bionics, Inc.Inventors: Edward R.
