Publication number: 20210113178Abstract: An apparatus and method are described using a forward model to correct pulse pileup in spectrally resolved X-ray projection data from photon-counting detectors (PCDs). The forward model represents pulse pileup effects using an integral in which the integrand includes a term that is a function of a count rate, which term is called a spectrum distortion correction function. This correction function can be represented as superposition of basis energy functions and corresponding polynomials of the count rate, which are defined by the polynomial coefficients. To calibrate the forward model, the polynomial coefficients are adjusted to optimize an objective function, which uses calibration data having known projections lengths for the material components of a material decomposition. To determine projection lengths for projection data from a computed tomography scan, the calibrated polynomial coefficients are held constant and the projection lengths are adjusted to optimize an objective function.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2019Publication date: April 22, 2021Applicant: CANON MEDICAL SYSTEMS CORPORATIONInventors: Jian ZHOU, Xiaohui ZHAN, Zhou YU

The phase discrepancy of the received multilines caused by speed of sound variation in the medium is estimated in the frequency domain for both the transmit angular spectrum and the receive angular spectrum. The phase variation is removed in the frequency domain, then an inverse Fourier transform is used to transform the frequency domain results to the spatial domain. In another implementation, the phase discrepancy of the received multilines is estimated and corrected entirely in the spatial domain.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2019Publication date: April 22, 2021Inventors: Jean-Luc Francois-Marie Robert, Sheng-Wen Huang, Francois Guy Gerard Marie Vignon, Jun Seob Shin, Seungsoo Kim, Faik Can Meral

Publication number: 20210113188Abstract: Vertical packaging configurations for ultrasound chips are described. Vertical packaging may involve use of integrated interconnects other than wires for wire bonding. Examples of such integrated interconnects include edge-contact vias, through silicon vias and conductive pillars. Edge-contact vias are vias defined in a trench formed in the ultrasound chip. Multiple vias may be provided for each trench, thus increasing the density of vias. Such vias enable electric access to the ultrasound transducers. Through silicon vias are formed through the silicon handle and provide access from the bottom surface of the ultrasound chip. Conductive pillars, including copper pillars, are disposed around the perimeter of an ultrasound chip and provide access to the ultrasound transducers from the top surface of the chip. Use of these types of packaging techniques can enable a substantial reduction in the dimensions of an ultrasound device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2020Publication date: April 22, 2021Applicant: Butterfly Network, Inc.Inventors: Keith G.
