Publication number: 20210128340Abstract: A treatment system includes an dressing having a decompression layer and an occlusive layer that secures the dressing about a treatment site, and defines a treatment chamber within which the decompression layer is positioned. Operation of an air displacement device fluidly coupled to the chamber causes the decompression layer to compress away from the tissue site, resulting in a pulling force being imparted onto the treatment site. This decompression of the tissue site increases the perfusion of blood and other fluids, and advantageously may reduce swelling at the treatment site. To increase the degree of lifting of the treatment site, the decompression layer is advantageously constructed to exhibit a parallel plate effect during use of the treatment system. For example, the decompression layer is constructed having a center of stiffness located closer to an outwardly-facing surface of the decompression layer than a tissue-facing surface of the decompression layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 27, 2020Publication date: May 6, 2021Inventors: Shervin Jahanian, Richard Kazala, Larry Tab Randolph, Jonathan G. Publication number: 20210128382Abstract: A patient support apparatus, such as a hospital bed, includes an alert light assembly or an alert light module having separate zones that are individually illuminated to convey information regarding respective alert conditions. The zones each have indicia related to a particular condition of the patient support apparatus. The illuminated zones are each sufficiently large so as to be seen from afar, such as on the order of ten feet or more. Alternatively or additionally, a GUI of the patient support apparatus displays alert indicia as part of a screen saver. Further alternatively or additionally, the patient support apparatus illuminates an alert light in a manner indicating an optimal time for taking a patient's vital signs.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 7, 2021Publication date: May 6, 2021Inventors: Robert M. Publication number: 20210128383Abstract: A multifunctional mattress overlay of the present invention comprises an air cell body, a gas pipe set and an inflating device. The air cell body has multiple first and second air cells. The first and second air cells both have a left and right air chamber. The gas pipe set respectively connects to the left and right air chambers. The inflating device is connected to the gas pipe set, and can selectively inflate and/or deflate the left and right air chambers, which makes the air cell body show an alternate state. The inflating device can inflate and/or deflate all the right or all left air chambers separately, which makes the air cell body show a turnover state. Through it, the air cell body can selectively in the alternating state or the turnover state, which makes the air cell body massage the patient and also assist the patient in turning over.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2019Publication date: May 6, 2021Inventor: BING-CHENG GAO
