    Abstract: Methods for the chemical dissolution of human and other cadavers, such as pets as an example, using ethanolic potassium hydroxide (KOH) or ethanol-water solutions of KOH at atmospheric pressure are described. After acid neutralization, to a neutral pH range, the resulting solutions may be applied to the earth for disposal as fertilizer, or further treated using hydrogen peroxide. Use of ethanol has been found to reduce the dissolution time of the cadavers to approximately two hours for high concentrations of KOH.

    Abstract: A method for joining dissimilar materials is provided. The method includes a solid-state joining process in which a rivet is plunged into a predrilled hole in a top workpiece. When the rivet contacts the bottom workpiece, ultrasonic vibration by oscillatory motion of a sonotrode, such as horizontal, vertical, or rotational motion, creates frictional heat at the interface between the rivet and the lower workpiece. With the aid of frictional heat and axial compression, metallurgical bonding is achieved at the interface between the rivet and the bottom sheet, while being below the melting temperature of the bottom workpiece. The sonotrode is retracted while the rivet remains.

    Abstract: A method for producing a sintered member, including the steps of: preparing a raw powder; press-forming the raw powder to produce a green compact; and sintering the green compact by high-frequency induction heating, wherein temperature of the green compact in the sintering step is controlled to satisfy all the following conditions (I) to (III): (I) the temperature is increased without maintaining the temperature in a temperature range equal to or higher than an A1 point of an Fe—C phase diagram and lower than the sintering temperature of the green compact, (II) a heating rate is set to 12° C./s or more in a temperature range of the Ai point to an A3 point of the Fe—C phase diagram, and (III) a heating rate is set to 4° C./s or more in a temperature range of the A3 point of the Fe—C phase diagram to the sintering temperature of the green compact.
